MEDIAproPAgandaNEWS.com - Borough Council Misleading Residents?

Newly elected  Councilman, Kent Davidson(D) who runs a website that proclaims to be news "Media, PA News," is creating a growing conflict of interest in this community.  Not only is it inappropriate for a government official to have a "news" website, but it's tremendously misleading.  In fact, it's a serious issue, as it will remain unclear what his or the council's intentions are and how his view will differentiate from borough business (i.e. Thrid Street Bridge)  For a campaign that was supposedly run on transparency, this seems opaque.

As a public servant, Kent should understand it's his job to listen and act on behalf of the people who elected him and that would entail discontinuing a politically motivated site that, regardless of his "posts," is a  direct reflection on Borough Council and Media.

  1. Tedman, Borough council is entirely controlled by the democratic party, what else did you expect. It'll get worse

  2. Here's the link to Davidson's post about how he'll handle his news site: http://mediapanews.com/2012/01/03/whats-going-to-happen-to-media-pa-news/
Doesn't seem at all controversial. In fact, his first post since being on council, http://mediapanews.com/2012/01/03/media-borough-council-reorganization-meeting-january-3rd-2012/, was a summary of votes and a listing of new committee members.
    What's past is past.
Would you have gotten rid of this site had you been elected?

  3. I AGREE WITH YOU, TEDMAN.

  4. Your not giving the reader enough credit. Most readers can distinguish between news and opinion.

Would removing the word "news" make anyone feel more comfortable? What would you have done with this blog Tedman if you were elected?

  5. The more, the merrier. Quality will decide. I love you site the best BY FAR! Except whenever you go on your political rants. Keep it cool, they are just chasing your ratings ;-)

  6. I'd suggest the reader check out the accuracy and veracity of the posts on both sites as compared with issues that they are familiar with, facts that have later come to light, and/or meetings that they have attended. In my experience, MediaPANews rates extremely high in each of these areas, and has an annoying (to those who it may embarrass) predisposition toward directly quoting statements recorded in meetings and leaving the reader to judge what sense they make (or don't). Take a look at http://mediapanews.com/2012/01/03/whats-going-to-happen-to-media-pa-news/

  7. At least it will be good "news" on his blog since the Democrats are back in the saddle.

  8. News???? The guy brings a recorder everywhere and simply plays it back through his keyboard...with highlighted words and an obnoxious use of puncuation!!!!!!!! If that's the "news" you're looking for, show up to the meetings.

Also, I have rarely read anything on Media, Pa News other than a "recording" of the council meetings.

Tedman, keep it up! Your blog gives us readers an insight to what is going on in Media besides politics. And when Kent does, it's typically days after Tedman has already posted it!

  9. Note to all: Indorf, the Borough clown, campaigned for the Dems in the recent election. Of course he's going to side with the official blog of the People's Republic of Media!

  10. Actually, I think Kent has made a strong effort to be clear about how he will continue the blog in order to separate his bias from the news. He has outlined how he will do this in the post referenced above. I haven't seen any such efforts from Tedman, nor an answer yet as to what he would have done with his blog if he were elected.

It's also not strange for politicians to have informative websites and blogs, as well as e-newsletters for their constituents. In fact, these days we expect that kind of connection with our elected representatives. Pileggi is a great example. He has a Twitter feed and an e-newsletter.

  11. No, it is not strange for politicians to have informational sites or blogs. However, it is strange to call them "news". Remember when Kent's blog was subtitled blunt musings and rants? That was at least an honest appraisal of the dribble he posts. Face it, Kent has never been more than a Citizen Kane blogger. As for his inclusion of direct quotes - they are always followed by Kent's parenthetical and pathetic translations. This is not news folks, it is hate mongering. He has made Media look like a bunch of whiny babies on more than one occasion. It's embarrassing. As an elected official he needs to change the title and stick to the facts.
