Third St. Bridge: Former Councilman writes on the need to move forward on repair

In his fourth paragraph, he goes on to explain how important this upcoming decision is to everyone.
Third, this so called "bad deal" in a three-party agreement approved on a bi-partisan basis and unanimously by Borough Council (including the majority of the present Council) created a financially sound and responsible procedure to rebuild the dam breast. It will allow the bridge to re-open for the safe transit of our residents, workers, customers for our local economy and business district, the buses of our school children, emergency vehicle access, and travel by our friends and neighbors in Upper Providence. And guess what? Surprise! It will not cost Media taxpayers and residents any more hard earned dollars. We can thank Senator Pileggi, the county and our last borough council for that achievement, something that the present Council so denigrates. The Borough also assumes no responsibility for ownership of the dam breast, like the County and Broomall's do, thus protecting our taxpayers and residents from future financial liability for repairing and maintaining it. That's a great deal for Media I would say!
Media Town Talk - Letter to the Editor
Even though the date on the sign was changed yearly, it never mentioned a "greenway" or alternative plan.

  1. Everyone will get old and start to lose their faculties. Mr. Cunningham, unfortunately has started early with his statement. God bless him as he moves on to his new adventure.

  2. I've always appreciated Mr. Cunningham's Philosophy: "You can't do wrong by doing the will of the people", "Pretty soon, you run out of other people's money to spend", "You always want to make sure that what you're putting in is better than what you're replacing" and "...it's about the kind of town you want to have".

It seems he would do well to take another look at this project. A lot has changed since 1998, and a lot will change in years to come.

  3. AnonymousApr 14, 2012 10:14 PM ,you are without a doubt a coward and a punk. If you have an opinion on what Mr. Cunningham wrote you should point out the flaws in his argument instead of hiding behind your lame attempt at wit. Show the tiny amount of courage it would take to sign your name.

    1. Little Queeney, to call someone a coward and a punk says a lot about your character. Just because you live in Upper Providence near Kirk Lane and are not getting your way you feel the need to attack others that oppose your self interest. Your wish for a new road and dam is doomed. Deal with it and whine some more.

    1. I am not a big man and I am far from being tough but I am a man. I do not take shots at people without letting them know who it came from . I am pointing out that just because Mr . Cunningham has a different point of view than your own does not mean he is "getting old and loosing his faculties". If you were the one who wrote that you are both a coward and a punk who is too afraid to let people know how you feel. Please tell me how I am wrong. My main concern is safe access to Media so you really do not know what you are talking about when discussing my self interest.
