What Happened at 3rd and Lemon St.?

sheared telephone pole
It takes a lot of force to snap a telephone pole in half, but that was the scene at 3rd and Lemon St. on the northern side of Lemon.  It's not clear what exactly happened, but from what people are saying a car accident occurred in the early morning hours last week.

A vehicle going at this velocity couldn't have have generated this much force from being at a stand still at the stop sign a mere 50ft. away.  It's believed that the car went through the stop sign, became air borne and struck the pole.

  1. There are several telephone poles in Media in danger of snapping. One is behind the Iron Hill Brewery that is supporting three transformers at a precarious angle. The other I just noticed is in the alley behind State Street west of On a Roll it also is supporting transformers. One good storm and they are gone.

  2. Thanks for bringing that up. The one behind Iron Hill looks like it could go anytime. Oddly enough it's been like that for a year or so.
