Who's looking out for the taxpayer? Media considering paying $4,000 per minute of video. Total cost ~$20,000!

Media considering $4,000 per minute of video
Media Patch reported today that Media Borough Council is moving forward with ratifying an agreement with Today in America (Discovery Channel) to film 5 minutes of video promoting Media in their upcoming show.  The 5 minutes of video comes at a cost of $19,800 that the borough will have to pay.

It's not only the worse deal I've ever heard of ($4,000 per minute of video), but I have already received complaints that taxpayers aren't happy about this either.  I'll provide a comprehensive update on this a later this week, but in the meantime, take the poll.

  1. As a taxpayer i am against this. I find $4000 per minute to be WAY to high. What does Media get out if it? Please do tell us nore

  2. My God! George Clooney doesn't even charge that amount. Why does the borough think this is a good idea?!?!?!?

  3. Take Terry Bradshaw's name away--he is just the frontman for an infomercial company. What a racquet. Media would do better hosing down State Street after "Dining under the Stars." The whole area reeks with bad odors. Cleaning up State Street would give us a better image than
    a hundred infomercials.

  4. Are you kiddin' me? For less than $20,000 to have that kind of national exposure and publicity--that's a great deal. There's a time to be frugal and a time to spend. That money is a drop in the bucket for what the town gets.

  5. People already know about Media- It's one of the few towns in the area with a ton of bars, restaurants, music venues, unique shops, nice streets to walk down and many events- year round to attract the locals from nearby Delco and Chester County. I would say don't spend the money--do they expect people to come here from California??
Media is already "Everybody's Hometown" so why spend the money?? I would clean up the town a bit more and stop expanding the parking meters. It seems like a waste of taxpayer money. I would do a poll of the entire town to see what suggestions the people of Media have for their own future....

  6. How about an Advisory Committee of residents get together to discuss the pros and cons of spending the money. They can send out a survey to whoever gets it to respond. Then council can set some community meetings to discuss the expenditure. I am sure that will work.

    1. I would like to do a presentation for the public on the history and environmental implications of breaching Terry Bradshaw's hairline. We'll follow it up with the Friends And Representatives of Terry (FART) who will pass around pro-Bradshaw-way petitions

    2. Give Terry Bradshaw the money and make him wear an Eagles uniform. That's about as close to a Super Bowl champion as we going to get in the next century.

  7. I'm for spending the money. But only after the 3rd Street Bridge and roadway is complete. Then you will have some real video to showcase. And the new WaWa too.

  8. Plenty of people pay a lot of money to come visit Philadelphia so maybe they will take a side trip to Media if they see the show. The borough has paid a lot more for a lot less with no possible benefit to the town. I say go for it!

  10. If anyone thinks that Media will get NATIONAL EXPOSURE from a 5 minute infomercial that will air on some no name network at 3:30am... I think I have some land in Florida that I'd love to sell you.
