Arthur Leahy is putting Media, PA on the Map in the World of Golf.

Great people doing great things are always cherished stories here in Media, PA.  So here's one that is going to make national news this June in the world of golf.  Local resident Art Leahy has been busy preparing for the US Open tournament that will take place in Merion Township this June.  Not as a competitor on the links, but by showcasing the love that he and many others like him have for the sport.

With the US Open in close proximity to Media, the economic benefits will surely be felt here in terms of money spent on accommodations, restaurants, shopping and services.   In fact, Art tells me there is already interest from attendees who are looking to rent houses in this immediate area for that  weekend. Speaking of that weekend, Art is looking to have what I would say is a town fair of sorts on State Street, featuring events, seminars, games and entertainment for the whole family.

But wait, there's more!  During this event Mr. Leahy will also be debuting his acclaimed screenplay, "Death on the 16th Fairway" at the Media Threatre.  This is the first of a three part trilogy about a murder mystery that takes place at a private club.  Though fictitious, many parts of the story are based loosely on Art's behind-the-scenes experience as a private golf club member and financial professional.  With a cast that includes Jim Kelly from ESPN Sports who provides audio narration, this will surely capture a lot of regional attention.

The vision, passion and enthusiasm Art has for this project is not only inspiring, but illustrates a what our town can do when community comes together.  With the Media Theatre helping out and many getting involved; June is shaping up to be a great month for Media, PA!

A portion of the proceeds raised by this event are going to Autism Speaks, Shelter Box and the USO.  Check out Art's website for more information and the latest update.
