BlackGold - A great book on African American Athletes who played at Media High School

I can't think of anything that makes a town prouder, than a well known resident who writes a book about the experience and achievements they've had here in Media.  Author,  John "Jack" Lemon's book, Black Gold - The African American Athlete at Media High School 1915 - 1966, does just that!

Congratulations to Jack Lemon for the vast amount of research and effort he put forth to make this book possible.  I had a chance last November to attend the Media Oldtimers Hall of Fame Dinner where Jack spoke and presented the awards to the inductees.  His family has called Media home since the 1800's!

Check out the excellent website for historical photos and more information on this effort and story.

  1. Hello,it is the basic, yet intricate adventure of how academic sports turned into a 'Soul changing experience' for Media's African American male and female athletes, and how those same athletes turned into an essential piece of the legacy of one of the littlest, yet most influential physical programs ever.Thank you.~Nina Ellis.
