New, One of a Kind Wawa Design Presented to Media, Pa

Wawa goes the extra mile with a new design made specifically for the proposed Media site. As shared by the Media First Team who are candidates running for Media borough council this May 21st; this concept shows a dedication towards this town with a one of a kind vision.

Would a Walgreens, which is a potential alternative for this site go to this length for Media?
The future of this project will be decided at the polls on May 21st.  The Media First Team is looking to work with the community to make this project work, while supposedly the other four "endorsed" candidates have not even spoken about the issue, as they are against it.

  1. That is an outstanding design. It would make an excellent gateway property for the town. I don't know if anyone could come up with something that is both better and REALISTIC. Yes, let's keep it realistic. We would all love an outdoor space dedicated to local farmers and artists. But let's keep it real.

    1. "Realistic" would have been Media Real Estate's spending an extra buck or few to buy the Starbucks corner when they had the chance if they wanted to make the kind of money they're looking to squeeze from this deal....

  2. It would be untrue to say that the 'endorsed' candidates "have not even spoken about the issue, as they are against it" because (a) I received a mailing from them focused solely on issues with the Wawa proposal; and (b) the mailing says nothing of the sort.

  3. How many gas pumps this time around? What is the square feet of the building? What is the difference from the first plan? Has a traffic study been completed by the state?

    1. Same number of gas pumps, anon 1:10. Wawa says eight, but each pump will have either two or four nozzles, so the answer is definitely...a lot! Square footage is the same, so 'plan'-wise, no difference, but a MUCH nicer looking building (though now two stories). Neither State or borough has completed traffic study, and State permit from PennDOT is required for entries onto Balt Pike and Providence Road--which is one of five different hurdles this plan has to satisfy.

    2. If only it reeked of cannabis and armpit odor while selling overpriced fair-trade soccer balls, WAWA would satisfy every group in this town!

Two more ?? What are the two stories all about? And what are the five hurdles?

  4. Nice rendering. Shame it would still be surrounded by a sea of parking and gas pumps...

    1. But there's a token green strip all around, a few bushes, and trees wedged in up against the buildings next door. Should be plenty to satisfy the NIMBY's on that end of town. LET'S DO THIS, MAN!!

  5. That's a beautiful rendering, are you kidding me. Is it possible though that this could get built some time before Y3K? If Media could have just a fraction of the development buzz of West Chester or Northern Liberties/Fishtown would be a lot of fun.

  6. I am a democrat and my vote is going to the "endorsed" candidates. That being said I do like this plan and I hope some of the issues surrounding it can be resolved. The residents who live close to the proposed site are very worried about the traffic issue. I am a little farther away and do not travel that intersection on a regular basis so the traffic is not a big issues for me. But I think it is very important to listen to everyone and make a decision based on what is best for the whole community and the real democrats Boyer/Johnson/Dixon/Johnson can do it.

  7. The Media Dems have really put out a poor choice of candidates this year. I've not seen one letter in the mail or anything from them. They are walking around clueless.

  9. Access to RT 252 North is the issue that makes this a problem.
Exit at State St. Means traffic light would need to accomodate the exodus..
Along with trolley that resets the light four to six time per hour...more State St. Green lights mean more 252 red lights..drive here often and know of the congestion that can occur..love the Wawa...and dis trust the current crop of council. But traffic is a concern...

  10. Why not print my comment Tedman? I guess the truth hurts, huh?

  11. I just fought my way in and out of the tiny WAWA on Baltimore Pike. VERY busy place! I hope they get the traffic sorted out and get it built! Would it be any better on the empty lot on Baltimore Pike on the corner of Manchester?

  12. Gee whiz! I wonder if the design change had anything to do with council slowing the existing process down. And the Media First team is looing to green light any and all building projects it seems.

  13. Wow! Yes, this is EXACTLY what Media needs! Not just more congestion at that tiny intersection, not just another crowded parking lot, but think of the JOBS it will create! TONS of low-paying part-time unskilled labor! Hooray for Media First! BUSINESS GIVING YOU THE BUSINESS is their motto!

    1. Dude, what did you expect, $30/hr. union supported jobs? Although it's modest, a Wawa job is actually a pretty good gig.

  14. Oh good, another Media First site that approves only comments that toe the party line. So much for confidence in your ideas.

  16. What happened to my question about Media Real Estate welcoming Media First and Toni Cavanaugh signs on their tenant occupied properities? What do they expect in return?
