A Deal In The Works For The Granite Run Mall?

There's been chatter this week that there may be a deal on the table for the Granite Run Mall.  As reported months ago, this property is up for sale, free and clear for the Mall complex and adjacent buildings (not including Riddle Ale House and Hannum's Harley Davidson).  That's about 57 acres with an estimated appraised value around $27 million from what I understand.

What I do know is that at least one development company has been doing some in-depth research on this property, so there is modest interest from a perspective buyer. Hard to tell how this will play out or if it even will, but I wouldn't be surprised if something happens here soon. As vacant as this mall has become, it almost has to.  Stay tuned.

  1. The buyers would have to get past all the "friends" of Middletown who oppose any and all development. "No city in our town" is their battle cry.

Remember it well... we have pictures of my family standing in the quarry trying to picture a mall being built! How time flies.....

  5. Will the FROGS terrorize this property? Or at lease place nonsense propaganda in their mailboxes?

  7. Well then, the people of Middletown who actually would like something positive and productive at what is now a wasting asset will need to speak up. It's already built, it's already land that has been cleared for decades, no homes or land are getting destroyed. Let's rally around this and be positive and be supportive. It's not going to revert back to a quarry.

  9. Prime location for more medical offices, a restaurant or two, maybe some mixed use retail with condos or office space. Maybe new trauma center. It's fun to imagine the possibilities. No need to stress.

  10. Town homes, apartments, and a shopping square with a Whole Foods, farm market, Dave and Busters

  11. Bulldoze it. Return it to nature. Stop sucking up all available land and turning it from productive farmland or forest to unsustainable sprawling mess of big box retail and horrible restaurants.

  12. As a Media apartment dweller I'd like to point out that though there may be a very high volume of apartments in town, the quality is very low. Old appliances, crummy carpets, weird layouts. And the largest property owner/manager in town is a notorious slumlord.

Also, let's keep it respectful around here. Calling something "white trash" is offensive.
