Media's Great Garage Sale This Weekend - Sept 7-8 2013

Get ready for Media's Great Garage Sale throughout the borough this weekend.  Starting at 9am and going to 4pm, this is a town tradition that's in its 27th year.  And as always, the goal for sellers is to bring back less to your garage or basement, than what you brought out.  Good Luck with that!

Historically, early birds start showing up around 7am to peruse the best deals, but this is an all day steady event.  With weather showing to be favorable, this may get a good turnout.  Parking will prove to be a lesson in patience, but that's to be expected.

For one ambitious group, they started their garage sale early and where seen down on S. Orange St. today with quite a display.  Others have invested in the classic telephone pole postings.  Here are a few.

  1. We'll be set up on Church Street. Hope to see you shoppers there.

  2. Telephone pole postings, as you call them, are illegal in this town. Of course, that only matters if you have objective, unbiased enforcement.

    1. Glad you're all over that! Can you also walk around town with a tape measure to make sure all parked cars are in legal compliance as well?

  3. Good answer MM. Just goes to show there's no true response to the lack of enforcement of existing laws under D leadership.

    1. Please. And if the law was enforced strictly you'd all complain about D leadership interfering with a free market event. See you at the polls in November.

  4. So you don't deny the current leadership continues to ignore their duty under the law.

  6. Thanks to all for a great yard sale weekend! While I did not get a chance to get around to the other sales (as I was helping to man our own sale), there seemed to be a good number of people all around town. The weather also seemed to be really nice - no sudden rain showers to send sellers/shoppers in a tizzy.

For those who put up yard sale signs, try and get them down by 24 hours after the end of your yard sale (as stipulated in 311-91, section M, which allows for temp yard sale signs). Thanks! :)

Hope all the sellers did well, and buyers found some nice treasures!
