Questions about Snow Plowing in Media

#mediapa #delco
I have to think if a borough snow emergency was issued last week, as were in neighboring towns, the roads would have been better plowed leaving for an improved parking situation in Media.

Here's an example of snow banks spilling over on Front Street into the parking spaces that are clearly unusable.  As you can see this street was plowed, but obviously not as a snow emergency route.  Otherwise the snow would have been removed up to the curb, after cars were removed during a snow emergency.   You'll also now see signs by the Media Police stating "No Parking."

Why aren't borough roads being properly plowed to prevent these issues?  Where's the situational awareness of what's happening in town with all this snow?  Mayor McMahon?

  1. Ask the council members. I talked to the guy that usually clears State Street and he says that council decided to let mother nature run it's course this time. "It is supposed to be 55 degrees on Friday and that should melt all the snow and ice according to the council members." *cough bullshit cough*

  2. We just came out of Market 320 on State Street. My wife is handicapped. The pedestrian crossing at the Plumb Street Mall has a very large pile of snow and ice still blocking the walkway. Come on Media !! Wake up??? Is this a lawsuit waiting to happen or is it?

    1. I think you'd be wasting your money on a lawsuit in this case.

  3. A snow emergency means you can't park on that street, right? Looking more carefully at your picture, TM.... it looks like the plow operators didn't have any problem with parked cars. Rather, it seems there was just too much snow to get it all the way back to the curb. There's just nowhere to put it unless you want to spend enormous amounts of money to do so. "For who? For what?"

    1. That would seem to be the issues. The sum total of all un-melted snow is simply too large to 100% remove. This is the exact situation faced by every other densely populated municipality at the moment.

  4. So nice to be able to get out and walk today. (2/22) Our walk took us through front street; it appears since your picture was taken someone has been through to dig out the parking spaces. So keep calling them out on on these issues.

  5. Many people in town thought the lack of snow removal was a disgrace.

  6. Many people don't have a clue what it takes to peovide municipal snow removal services, especially under the harsh conditions we have faced this winter.
