Media's "Biggest" Unofficial Event Is Closely Approaching!

Being a bit Irish (I have two capital letters and an apostrophe in my name), I should have a pretty good grasp on how good St. Patty’s Day is, but I never found the event all that appealing until the last few years..  Truthfully, what changed my view was the fun people have with celebrating this tradition here in Media.  Last year, there were people lined up a the doors of a few bars on State Street with plenty others preparing for parades and a very popular pilgrimage to the mecca of Irish celebrations, Dukes in Springfield (You have to know someone practically to get in).  I’ve never gone that far, as the festivities are a plenty here in town.  Rumor has it that Sligo has gone through as many as 15 1/2 kegs of Guinness on this day, so use that as a barometer of what you can expect.

So, if you want to come out and celebrate St. Patrick for driving all the snakes out of Ireland and into law school(kidding), stop by State Street on Monday, March 17th for what’s become Media’s unofficial party day.  If you’re going to go that far, play it safe and check out a car service from the good people over at uber.com

  1. Don't be an amadan. 'Tis "St. Paddy's Day", short for "Padraig" the Irish spelling of Patrick. "Patty" is a nickname for Patricia! Now excuse me while I pretend to understand Ulysses.
