Media in Two Minutes

Media in Two Minutes

There's a lot of news this week, but the biggest by far was the protest assembled at Governor Wolf's
democratic rally to get out the vote (GOTV) in Media yesterday.  The governor arrived late, most likely due to the protest, but did speak for 3 minutes before being overcome by boos from the crowds. As Tom Wolf was leaving, he was overhead telling a staffer "I can't deal with these people." He left in such a hurray that they apparently forgot US. Senator, Bob Casey who was left behind.

Car Stolen on Front Street in Media, PA
Car Stolen on Front Street in Media on Friday night.
In what I'll say is highly unusual, a car was reported stolen outside the court house on Front Street around 8:30pm on Friday evening.  I can't remember the last time hearing a car stolen from the borough, but it can happen so make sure you lock your cars.

The model stolen was a 2007 Chevy Cobalt.

Thefts reported in Upper Providence last week
Every other month it seems either Media, Nether Providence or Upper Providence reports on these kinds of thefts.  Please contact your local police department if you notice suspicious activity.
Lost 4 year old Wednesday night?
At around 10:30pm on Wednesday night while sitting at my kitchen table, I saw out the window a vehicle with a spot light slowly moving down 6th Street.  As I got up to look out my front door, I saw a Media police vehicle stopped on the street.  I walked out to my porch and asked the officer if everything was okay, and he replied, "do you have a 3 year old?"  I say I didn't, and he went on to say they were looking for open doors and to see if the young child wandered in.

Not sure what the outcome was, but below is the alert sent out on Wednesday night.

Gradyville Road gets a new bridge and it's open for traffic!
Even with concerns over the bog turtles, this bridge was still done in 3 years.  That's not bad considering Media is still waiting on 3rd Street Bridge after 20 years.

That's All Folks! Towne House is closed.
I consider myself fortunate for being able to say I was at the Towne House for their last night.  I know people weren't happy with the service over the last few weeks, but I understand the situation this restaurant was up against and the challenges they had with staff and keeping things stocked.

Well, as of today. the sign's been posted on the entrances.

Fancy Nails getting fancier!

Cigar shop coming to Media?
Rumor is that there is a Cigar Shop or a Cigar Lounge or a Cigar 'something' coming to State Street. That might be pretty cool, so we'll see where that goes.
Media Elections
Here's a few facts on Tuesday's election in Media!

Both Council President, Brian Hall and Vice President, Paul Robinson, along with Media Borough Council were found in contempt of court over 3rd Street Bridge.  If that's not bad enough, the 20 years this nonsense has been going has cost taxpayers dearly.  Remember that on Tuesday.  Aside from Wawa and a hotel, also remember that these are the same two that had to call a vote at borough council on when to mail a letter.  MAIL-A-LETTER!  I could go on and on, but it's a waste of time.

As for candidate Peter Williams, back in 2010 he was un-ceremoniously removed as President of Media Borough council for what members of council felt were lack of leadership.  It wasn't just the opposing party that removed him, it was also an equal amount of democrats from his own party.

Media can do much better than recycled politicians.

  1. I love Rose's for it's cigar selection, but I could really use a lounge. It'd be great if they can get that in place before the snow starts!

  2. Governor Wolf was a malignant waste of a vote as governor and has been proving me right every day. 3 1/2 more years of this loser!
