Questions raised over generator recently installed at borough hall.

Questions raised by community over recently installed generator at Media Borough Hall.  How much did it cost, what fuel does it run on, how loud is it and how much power does it provide; are just a few.  For a borough council that likes to keep people in the dark, this is some what ironic.

The only information shared by Media Borough on their website was the initial 'advertisement for bid' for a generator replacement.

  2. More likely natural gas since there is no large basetank where the diesel would normally be. It has noise reduction enclosure and is specifically built to make less noise

  3. This municipal bids should have considered where the unit componemts are made while we live in a global economy their should have been a provision in the bid package that the unit have some percentage of parts made in USA certainly a german company owned by Rolls Royce likely has little to none of the parts made in USA kind of a shame to not to try to keep some jobs here
By having provisions in these bid packages that try keep some of our local tax dollars here in the US

  4. Usually, low bids win the day. It's harder to support buy-American requirements in a low-bid world because American-made tends to be more expensive. At the same time, we want lower taxes. You can't have it both ways.

    1. The equivalent Cummins engine would have more of its parts that were of US origin dought it would have costed any more - For such a large capital purchase it wouldn't been any more effort on Media borough to consider 25% or more components of US origin

  5. This seems like trying to make news where there is none. There was an existing generator that needed to be replaced. It went through public advertisement for bids and was likely awarded in a public meeting. The installation appears to be professional looking on a new level pad, a noise suppressing enclosure and protective poles to prevent accidental impact. Seriously, this is not newsworthy.

    1. It must be "newsworthy" if you took the time to comment. It also seems like you have the same questions too, "The installation appears to be professional looking on a new level pad, a noise suppressing enclosure and protective poles to prevent accidental impact." It appears, but does it? How much you think that costs? Or does it just appear to cost a lot too?
