Title: Shocking Armed Robbery in Media, PA: Three Suspects at Large
Introduction
Media, PA, a town known for its charming streets and tight-knit community, was shaken by a disturbing incident on May 3rd. An armed robbery involving three suspects took place on the Unit block of E. 5th Street, leaving residents in shock and authorities on high alert.
The Incident
On May 3rd at 03:53 hours, Media Borough Police were dispatched to the Unit block of E. 5th Street for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Officers arrived within a minute of dispatch and learned that three males had robbed a pedestrian at gunpoint. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the keys to her car. The victim refused and fled back into her residence, dropping her wallet in the process, which was taken by the suspects. The suspects did not take anything else and fled the area.
Later investigation revealed that the suspects may have been using a white Honda CR-V. The vehicle was last seen turning onto Baltimore Ave from Providence Rd (Rte. 252) toward I-476/Springfield Twp minutes after the robbery.
Further Developments
On May 3rd at 08:56 hours, the Media Police took a report of a theft of a white 2018 Honda CR-V that occurred earlier the same night as the armed robbery. The vehicle was unlocked with the fob and house keys inside. The vehicle has various decals on the corners of the tailgate window and was seen returning to town just prior to the armed robbery. The Media Police, along with neighboring police departments, took additional reports on Saturday of thefts from motor vehicles in adjacent municipalities.
On May 4th at 00:22 hours, the Media Police observed the white Honda CR-V (same tag displayed) traveling eastbound on Baltimore Ave. A traffic stop was attempted, resulting in a vehicle pursuit which was terminated on I-95 North in Philadelphia. Officers lost sight of the vehicle in the area of the Girard Ave exit. Investigation revealed the Honda CR-V may have been connected to another theft of a vehicle in Middletown Township. Both stolen vehicles were seen traveling east on Baltimore Ave (into Media Borough) minutes apart from each other just before MPD engaged in the pursuit of the Honda.
