FOX-TV'S SUE SERIO EMCEES DELCO IDOL FOR SECOND SUMMER
Sue Serio, the good-natured morning anchor on FOX-TV's "Good Day Philadelphia", returns as the emcee of The Media Theatre's "Delco Idol" contest for the second summer. The popular vocal competition takes place Wednesday nights at 7pm July 6 to August 3.
"This is always fun for me," Serio said. "The talent on the stage is remarkable and I am happy to be a part of this exciting event at Delaware County's only professional music theatre."
"Delco Idol" is The Media Theatre's summer showcase for aspiring vocalists ages 14-24. Each week they perform songs of their choosing which highlight their personality. Jesse Cline, the theatre's Artistic Director, is the one constant judge throughout the five weeks. He is joined by a panel of judges which features several community leaders, entertainment specialists, or media personalities.
The vocalists are, for the most part, from Delaware County, although a few reside in Chester and Montgomery Counties as well as Wilmington, DE, and Philadelphia. The criteria states that contestants must live within a 55-mile radius of The Media Theatre. Past winners include Brian Giebler, of Phoenixville, and Lauren Cupples, of Glenolden, who went on to have a career as a professional actress. Cupples appeared recently in The Media Theatre's "Annie" and performed this spring in Florida.
Serio is hoping to get some good conversation and debate going on about "Delco Idol" on facebook and twitter. "Our viewers debate about weather all the time on the internet, so perhaps some chatter will take place about who they think should win."
