It's been brought to my attention that there have been complaints, and emails sent to me, from residents that the behavior experienced after school hours at the Media Elementary playground has been inappropriate for the younger children playing there.
This issues involved foul language/writing, aggressive basketball play, fighting and litter. I've also personally noticed loitering at this site well after 9pm on weeknights. I've forwarded these complaints on to Borough Council and Public Safety for discussion.
This week I heard back from Councilman, Jim Cunningham, who is also Chair of Public Safety, and agreed that the incidents were posing difficulties for the community. He went on to say that he has discussed the problems with Police Chief, Wusinich. As a course of action, there will be heightened police patrols and officers will exit their cars to visually inspect the playground area.
If you hear of incidents, please let the Media Police know.
A special thanks to Chief Wusinich, Councilman Cunningham and the concerned residents that brought this up.
Thanks
