County officials issue disaster emergency declaration ahead of Irene

Per Daily Times article:

As part of the declaration, which will be in effect for seven days, council authorizes resources to assist municipalities in the response and recovery efforts.

The declaration activates the emergency plans of each municipality and allows them to waive certain formal requirements so they can secure necessary emergency contractors and personnel.

As part of its emergency plan, each municipality has one facility designated as an emergency facility.

The declaration also enables municipal leaders to coordinate their emergency response efforts.
