BREAKING: Judge gives Media Borough 30 days to work out differences on Third Street Bridge.

Judge gives Media Boro 30 days to work out differnces

A meeting was held this morning with Judge Proud regarding  the Third Street Bridge roadway differences and subsequent contempt of court petition filed by BLCC.  The County, as a stakeholder in the lawsuit was also present and joined BLCC in their interpretation as “re-establish” meaning two-way access. As reported before, the RTM School District, Middletown and Upper Providence have also passed resolutions for the two-way road.

From what I’m understanding, Judge Proud has given Media Borough a month to essentially workout the differences.  Should that not happen, another hearing is to be scheduled for December in which a final decision is expected.

With millions in funding being held up through continued litigation,  Media Borough council now has 30 days to either accepting a two-way design, or continuing to fight this out in court which could potentially end in a stalemate.  A legal stalemate would most likely bring this back to exactly where we were sixteen years ago, but with one catch – NO MONEY TO FIX The Bridge.

  1. Let me be the first of hopefully MANY who at long last give a cheer to Judge Proud!!!

  2. This council needs to quit with the political games, get focused and get this bridge done as a two-way road!

  3. Wow millions of dollars are begin held up, on a bridge that leads to a one way street coming out of Media.Seems a bit rediculous. Now everyone's up in arms about it. Seriously people you're all arguing over a silly bridge that really goes no where? Hmmmm well spent money? Must be nice.

  4. Dear Judge Proud, please save us from this pandering, conflicted, agenda-driven council.

    Sincerely, the rest of us.

    1. A little surprising, you'd think they would want to take from us now to cover the legal bills then later. This means that they're either prepping for a big increase next year when the election is over or they're truly crazy enough to consider floating a bond.

  6. So we get o increase this year, do you really think the same is going to happen for 2014. We will pay for the mess council created eventually.....such a shame the council is full of arrogant men who are insistent on getting their way and not doing what is best for the borough. Stop wasting our time and money and restore the bridge! Not only will our township taxes go up, but so will school taxes.

  7. Delaware County wants a 2-way, RTM School Board wants a 2-Way, BLCC wants a 2-way, Upper Providence wants a 2-Way, Lima wants a 2-Way, Middletown wants a 2-Way, 99% of the petitons I gathered on North Monroe Street want a 2-Way, what part of the argument doesn't Media Borough Council understand?

    1. They understand the FROG argument more. Remember come election time - any candidate endorsed by FROGs is probably a closet FROG.

    1. Good for Coulcilwoman Roe. It isn't going to be cheap. And Brian Hall and friends are still going to loose. As a long time resident, I'm embarrassed.

  10. Somewhat disturbing is this quote from yesterday's (11/19) DelcoTimes:
"Discussions are not thought to have an indefinite life span. Hall believes while a 30-day clock may have been mentioned, it is unlikely Proud will require a status report near the end of December, with January being more likely."
Yet one more illustration of Prez Hall's misinterpretation of the English language - since when does 30 days NOT mean 30 days???
Judge needs to put his foot down!

    1. We don't need a lawyer as Borough Council President, we need a LEADER. Seriously, Media, in the immortal words of Vanilla Ice: drop this zero and get with a hero.
