With the clock now set by Judge Proud regarding last week's meeting on the Third Street Bridge dam, time is running out to get this project resolved. After 16 years, millions
of dollars on the line and time put forth by many in this town and adjacent areas; it’s
time for people to step up.
Where is it? |
I understand that he technically doesn’t have a vote in the
matter, but no one can tell me that Bob McMahon after 18 years as mayor doesn’t
have influence on this issue. He's been involved in it from the very beginning. If there’s
been a formal statement by the mayor on the Third Street Bridge that I’ve
missed, I’d like to see it. Otherwise,
we’ll most likely see a stalemate on this project by people who chose to stand
on the sidelines when Media relied on them to lead the cause.
Media Borough Council’s strategy of “lawsuit Leadership” is exactly
why we’re no closer to resolving this issue than we were 16 years ago. If a court decision ultimately decides this,
then what exactly do people on council have to show for the last year of their
service? What was accomplished by this
group other than the time and expenses it cost businesses and residents? Nothing?
Not quite, it leaves us with one of the most dangerous dams in the State
of PA that was fully funded, but yet squandered by a council that chose special
interests over the safety of the
community.

ReplyDeleteI'd like to know what's going on within this '30 days' - is there any movement by council to amend their one-way decision to accomodate the 2011 agreement? If Judge rules they must comply, what's the plan then? Who will 'watchdog' this council to ensure forward movement and compliance with Judge P's ruling? As God as my witness, I don't care if Bozo the Clown is running for Media Council I will relentlessly campaign AGAINST any current council clown seeking re-election! I'd put the real Bozo up against current council Bozo's any day!
ReplyDeleteYou couldn't express my feelings, and my neighbors, more accurately. Media Borough Council is home of the idiots delight. I'll vote for you, whoever you are, Anonymous.
DeleteHe was against 2-Way before he was for 2-Way. dON'T THINK HE REALLY MATTERS now. Mayor McMahon was and IS very friendly and encourageing to FROGS.
ReplyDeleteThen next time mcmahon says anything of substance at a council meeting will be the first time. He has been disinterested in council work for yrs and has shown barely any interest in anything if it does not highlight something he is doing that has almost nothing to do with his job as major. He has been slapped around by the dems for yrs for supporting Republicans running for state office.
ReplyDeleteTotal jock sniffer if ever there was one. What you see and hear from him is what you get.
Have to admit -- I too have wondered why Mayor McM has not verbally said A WORD about the bridge but sits and watches and waits. I understand the "he has no voting rights" but surely he must have an opinion he is permitted to express for the benefit of the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteAnd here's something to think about: Milestones in the construction of the Interstate Highway System include:
The Interstate Highway System was authorized by the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 — popularly known as the National Interstate and Defense Highways Act of 1956—on June 29.
October 17, 1974 — Nebraska becomes the first state to complete all of its mainline interstate highways with the dedication of its final piece of I-80.
Soooo the NIDH Act is signed in 1956 and 18 years later the state of Nebraska has a 4 (four) lane Interstate highway crossing east to west OR west to east. We're still sitting and at this point holding at 16 years and we can't even get a 2 lane funded road to go less than half a mile. WTH??
Good thing the FROGS weren't in New York City in the 1920's. No one would get in or out in 2012.
ReplyDelete1927 started the George Washinton Bridge and opened for business in 1931. Now GWB has 16 lanes of traffic and the most vehicular traffic of any bridge in the world.
Media 3rd Street Bridge closed for 17 years and counting and can't even decide on 1-Way or 2-Way.
are you kidding?? FROGs would have given Manhattan back to the Indians.................
DeleteI understand some people want a two-way, while others want a one-way road; but to not have anything after all this is just pathetic. I've never seen such dysfunction from a local govt.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing this group has less of than transparency, is political savvy. They can't seem to get anything done.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the movie Lincoln? Think about the issue in the movie but use the bridge!!
ReplyDeleteFYI Media Borough Council "Workshop" this Thursday Dec 2nd floor Agenda has been posted Bridge is not on the agenda.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this information, Cindy. It may never be on the Agenda. The Democrats are happy to leave the bridge as it is for the last 16 years--and now maybe forever.
DeleteRead the minutes from Oct 18th on borough website - Seems the FROGS rallied the troops and out numbered their comments compared to the "other guys"
DeleteLet's not let that happen again!!! Unless your vocal cords are cut YOU need to speak up - this blog is great but the squeekier wheel gets the oil! We can't let them win without a fight for what we all know is right and the proper thing to do. What day is today (12/5) in the 30 days and counting????? calendar??
