Big Changes Coming to Media's Starbucks!

Renovations for Media's Starbucks
If you enjoy Media's Starbucks on the corner of Baltimore Ave and Providence Road, you may like it a lot more now that renovations are underway.  From what I'm told, the tables and chairs along the windows will be removed and replaced with a long counter and stools.  With people often "camping" out to use the internet access, this should free up more space with availability of single seats at the counter instead of a multiperson tables.  It looks like they may take the wall down where the merchandise was and have a sitting area setup in that location.  Seating will still be leisurely with a layout designed towards convenience and efficiency.

The outside is getting an upgrade too with a fixed up patio and new outdoor furniture.  Unfortunately, you'll still have to contend with limited parking.  Hours will also be scaled back this week until the work is completed.  Eitherway, the staff are excited about the renovations and I'm sure others will be too.

  1. This will make it much nicer, but I SO wish these renovations would have included some type of drive-thru capacity!! We need a decent coffee drive-through option around here so badly.

    1. Not sure I agree that we need a drive through, but we definitely need a better parking situation. I've witnessed Starbucks customers turn their vehicles into traffic obstacles on both Baltimore Pike and Providence Rd. I don't know why Starbucks didn't move across the street to the location that NOVA bank vacated.

    2. That's a good point. You know what would be cool, if Media had a mini coffee drive-thru like they have in Seattle.

    3. I think the same thing about the NOVA bank every time I drive by wanting a beverage but unable to get out of my car (which is actually fairly often)! Or not able to park in a vacant "reserved for gold store of awfulness" space....

  4. If Media Real Estate bought this location when it was for sale, we would have a WaWa with parking. Now Starbucks with backup traffic and congestion. Does Starbucks do Super stores?

  5. Tedman - You ran for Council, right? Please tell me how It's possible that our zoning ordinance would allow so many seats in this location with so few parking spots? It seems that this proposal, if true, could result in more seats than parking spots. That's an issue our local elected officials can fix. That's something simple you could add to your platform. Dude, I really think you could be a decent candidate if your blog entries demonstrated an understanding of real day to day challenges, along with realistic ways to fix them.

Tedman's blog is the best blog in the county, bar none. Who gives us more information and points of view. Or is more worth reading, whether you agree with him or not.

    1. Agreed. But I'd like to see the guy win an election, too.

  7. I just wish they'd take down that bigass sign they have on the corner that overshadows the "Welcome to Media" sign. I expect that from the gold pirates, but Starbucks might have a bit more class!

  8. Starbucks should move across the street to the NOVA bank building. It's genius!
