Dear Reader,
Greetings, my name is Tedman O'Hara and the creator of this blog. I'm currently running for Mayor of Media because after 18 years of neglect and complacency, Media deserves more from this important position. I'm not looking to make this a career (two term limit), nor am I looking for compensation (I'll donate 100% of what I'm paid back to the community.) What candidate does that? I will, because it's the right thing to do!
You're Better Off Ted!
I know thousands stop by this site each week, so here's what I need: I need your Vote November 5th so we can lead with enthusiasm, vision and a spirit that I know will make Media one of the best places to live in America!
Thanks! And enjoy this week's Media in Two Minutes!
Media in Two Minutes
Today is the Media Food and Craft Festival
Not sure what Media's Food Festival really means anymore, as it seems to be the same format that took place at Super Sunday. Crafts with food, but this time it is food with crafts.
What you can't miss, is the big show going on up a Joclyn's today. It's Media's favorite band, the Broozers. They kick off at 4pm.
Media VFW Gets Renovations
Looks like last weekend we had another record turn out for Media VFW's Sunday Breakfast. WOW, there was a line almost out the door, so maybe we need two people making omelets. If the vets need me, I'm there.
What did attract a lot of excitement was the new kitchen renovations done by the local Home Depot. I was able to get a couple pictures, and can say everyone was thrilled with how this turned out. Thanks for everyone who looks out for the Media VFW!
Media's Leaf Pickup Schedule for 2013
A search on the borough's award winning website doesn't yet list this year's leaf pickup schedule, but it usually starts around Oct 15th. We will post it here when it becomes available.
More of a Good Thing - Fellini's!
Fellini's is about to get bigger with plans to start expanding into the adjacent building that was recently vacated by Salad Stop. Don't get you hopes up, the added space won't have an affect on the wait time or reservations that are typically needed to get a table here. The place is that good! Try the prosciutto and peas dish.
Greek Food Fest - Middletown on Old Forge Road.
I'd rather drink ouzo on a beach in Kefalonia Greece, but the next best thing is the fantastic Greek Food Festival in Middletown this weekend. I spun by on Saturday and the place had a lot of people. Check it out, it's all ages with activities for the kids.
11th Annual Harvest Festival
Calling it Media's Napa Valley may be a stretch, but maybe not. Either way the 11th Annual Harvest Festival is going this weekend out in Chadds Ford. You want to get into the spirit of Fall, this will having you feeling it immediately. Wine, music, events.....you can't go wrong on this one. Maybe we'll see you there!
Rose Tree Colts Football Homecoming!
I haven't had this much fun in a long time! The Rose Tree Colts during their homecoming ceremony invited me to be recognized along with some iconic figures on Sartuday. One of which was Chief Hampton who was on tap for his vision and dedication towards making the Rose Tree Colts the program that it is.
I was called out on the field first so running down the field slapping the hands of the players lined up was great. Thanks to the Rose Tree Colts for a great tradition and program for the youth of our area.
Register of Wills - Jen Holsten Maddaloni
Candidate for Register of Wills, Jen Holsten Maddaloni |
Look no further than Jen Holsten Maddaloni who is running for the county job of Register of Wills. A dynamic young woman with proven experience and skills for the position. I caught up with her this week at a speaking engagement in Media. She'll be out and about in the coming weeks to campaign in Media.
Media's First Annual Turkey Drive |
There will be more about this in the coming weeks, but we're getting ready to do the biggest turkey drive Media has ever seen! I've got the best marketing and promotional minds getting ready to help make this a lot of fun.
Media Retailers Unite!
I'd like to recognize the great work that was done in a recent ad in Town Talk promoting Media's retailers. Retail Businesses got together and took out two full pages and filled it with individual ads made up of the stores in Media. At $75 for a business to participate with an individual ad, the TT pages were filled! The ad campaign was "Shop Local, Shop Media!"
Who are th republican candidates running for Media Borough Council?
ReplyDeleteNew to PA, new to town...how/where/by when do we register to vote? Found no info on boro site.
ReplyDeleteYou can download a form from here: http://www.votespa.com/portal/server.pt?open=514&objID=1174117&parentname=ObjMgr&parentid=1&mode=2 Or email me your address at info@allthingsmediapa.com and I'll send you one.
ReplyDeleteYou can either mail it in or return to the elections office at the Delaware County courthouse. Unfortunately, you missed the deadline (needed to be in 30 days prior to Nov 5th) to vote in the upcoming November general election, but you'll be registered to vote going forward.
Thanks!
Tedman
Tedman, the last day to register for this up coming election is Oct. 7th. "Anoymous" still has Monday to register!
DeleteThanks for the clarification! Anyone who would like to get in under this deadline, I'll leave registrations forms on my porch. I live at 128 E. Sixth Street. There will be a blue Yamaha scooter parked out front of my house.
DeleteYou'll need to fill out the form and submit it to the Election Bureau office at the court house, you can also go directly there and fill one out too.
Thanks
Tedman
Deadline is tomorrow 10/7 "Close of Business"
DeleteThx
Is this a Boro-resident-only vote, or are Middletown residents allowed to vote as well?
ReplyDeleteEither way, best of luck Tedman!
Only residents of Media borough can vote for me. Thanks for the support thought!
ReplyDeleteTedman
Oh darn. You would have had my vote Tedman but I'm in Upper Prov.
ReplyDeleteThanks, vickmcg! You can still get involved, if you'd like to help out as a volunteer. Email me at tedmano@gmail.com.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading!
Well I hope you can do something to save the shrinking Glen Providence Park, the McMansions are taking over!
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for Tedman because he has his hand on the pulse of Media Borough--and knows how to promote our future. However, I admire and appreciate Mayor Bob McMahon's long time service to the Borough and our country.
ReplyDeleteTM. You have an edge in terms of communication, and therefore everyone knows how passionate you are. That's why it's so frustrating that I just don't think an R can win.
ReplyDeleteI live in Middletown Township but as a neighbor we are greatly impacted by the way Media is run! I would vote for you in a heartbeat if I could! Especially in light of some recent interaction I had with a Media merchant as she shared with me a conversation she had with the head of the businessman's council and her concerns about the cost and regulations in doing business, they stated that their main concern was keeping the residents happy because they are the tax payers.... Completely blind to the fact that if you don't have a commercial base, those tax payers are going to pay at MUCH higher levels! Frustrated retailers will not grow business in Media! Please help.
ReplyDeleteBeth you are right on the money! That is why the tax revenue that a super Wawa would bring is so important to this town - to help contribute and lessen the tax burden on residents! However, if we continue to have our elected officials pandering to Nether Providence residents as opposed to looking out for Media residents, the business tax base will never grow. Just one more special interest faction that borough council can latch on to just like they pander to the FROG's every whim.
DeleteUmm, weren't you complaining a few months ago that council wasn't listening to the neighbors on the other side of the 3rd street bridge? I live on Front Street (one way, btw), pay Borough taxes and I DO NOT WANT a 16 pump gas station at that intersection!
DeleteWhy not, Front Street?
DeleteFrog Slayer - This Media Borough Council has always listened respectfully to residents from neighboring municipalities. That's not pandering nor does it suggest they are not looking out for the Borough's best interest. Maybe responsible governing is about considering facts and not judging people based on political party.
DeleteBy the way, do you advocate killing any other small animals?
FROGS are people, too.
Delete@anon 4:35 PM
DeleteFor most of the folks that enjoy bashing the borough's elected officials, it isn't about anything except;
- getting themselves elected
- getting every possible project approved and built
The criticisms of listening to one group, ignoring another, delaying this, approving that, etc. are all easy to predict.
Umm, yes Anon 9:30, I was! Great point - because my 'complaining' regarding the Third Street bridge was on behalf of Upper Providence residents who were basically pushed out of the entire Third street equation and told they could not sit on the CAC because we were not 'borough residents'. So the point here is that Media now CHOOSES to consider what the Nether Prov residents want with respect to the Wawa, but CHOOSES NOT to consider the Upper Prov residents positions on Third Street.
DeleteAlso, as clarification, I do not advocate the killing of small animals, but the destruction of a self-created advocacy group in sheep's clothing with nothing but personal agendas at hand. FROG in this case as a proper noun and not just a noun for you grammar cops.
Actually, FROG is an acronym and a group of environmental volunteers from all over the borough. Lots of Delaware County residents participate.
DeleteUpper Providence residents spoke at all public meetings, participated in focus groups and were interviewed individually for CAC report. Is there a new point you'd like to make that wasn't captured through that effort? Upper Providence, unlike Media, is not responsible for project design and is not a potential owner of an unnecessary dam.
DeleteFROGS represent Media Borough's resident Urban Terrorist group, bent on protecting home property values by using a park as a front.
DeleteThe Third Street CAC report is still available on borough website - it provides a public record of the thorough and inclusive process.
DeleteI'm sure it's listed next to the resignation letter of the CAC Co-chair who left because the CAC was so unfairly slanted. Or is borough council still denying that happened?
DeleteMcDonald you are so clueless. Traffic has actually increased down third St. and up West St. since the bridge closure. How do you know home values would increase if the bridge remains closed? Fact is you don't maybe they would increase if it were open. Again you don't know but you run your mouth every chance you get. Clueless .........
DeleteThe whole community benefits from publicly available green space. Equity members of BLCC might benefit from selling "lake front" property.
DeleteI think Steve McDonald is right. He knows what he is talking about. Anon at 9:34 is the one who is clueless.
DeleteHey anon @ 9:34, got a traffic study of your own to share? Let's see it...
DeleteThis resident of Front Street wants to keep Media walkable and residential. I do not think a borough of 5000 residents and 3/4 of a square mile needs a 5000 sf convenience store and 16 gas pumps with hundreds of cars in and out of there every hour - at an already overloaded intersection. (Don't forget that the awful Starbucks traffic will not go away.) Why can't they look for space over by the Granite Run Mall? Doesn't that make a lot more sense?
ReplyDeleteI agree, let them go to Granite Run Mall. And Wawa doesn't have to spend $150,000 adding an extra lane at Monroe and Providence Roads.
DeleteMedia Council attendance roll call must sound something like this.......
ReplyDeleteMr. Davidson.....Mr Davidson......quick somebody email him.......
