2015 MUNICIPALITIES CONFERENCE & TRADE SHOW

MEDIA, PA - Nearly 200 municipality employees, engineers, road and highway managers, emergency services personnel and planning department members came out to DCTMA’s annual Municipalities Conference and Trade Show on Thursday, April 9th  at Drexelbrook Corporate Events Center.  This year’s theme was “Congestion Coordination & Traffic Planning Solutions.”

DCTMA welcomed Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Transportation Leslie Richards as the keynote speaker. She discussed many vital issues facing the state’s transportation network, especially the passing of House Bill 1060.  Pennsylvania’s most comprehensive piece of state transportation legislation invests almost two and half billion dollars into transportation by the fifth year of the plan.  Richards also discussed her support of Transportation Management Associations and focused on their importance to the ever-changing transportation industry.

In addition, there were four break-out meetings, including “Stop, Look, & Listen!” with SEPTA for answers to all public transit questions, Incident Management, and Coastal Zone Task Force.  Attendees had an opportunity to network throughout the exhibit area and make contacts with businesses vital to their respective municipalities. There was also a panel discussion including John Ward, Deputy Executive Director, DVRPC; Ron Hopkins, Assistant General Manager of Operations, SEPTA; Emmanuel Anastasiadis, Traffic Operations and ITS Manager, PennDOT District 6; Lou Hufnagle, Senior Planner, Delaware County Planning Department; and moderated by Eric Ostimchuk, P.E, PTOE, Principal, Traffic Planning and Design, Inc.

During the buffet luncheon, DCTMA raffled off several great prizes - an overnight stay at Staybridge Suites and a 2-bike bicycle rack for use in a municipality.
