Santa's Parade 2015 - Frequently Asked Questions

Santa's Parade - FAQ

Here's everything you need to know about Santa's Parade on Nov. 29th.  If there's a question you have that isn't answered below, leave a comment and we'll get it answered.

Q: What's Santa's Parade?

A: This is the second year we've had Santa's Parade on State Street in Media. It was created by businesses in the borough to bring a fun, exciting event that would draw people to the area with the idea that once here they would linger to shop, eat, drink and enjoy all that Media has to offer -- all year round.  The parade starts at 5PM on Sunday November 29, 2015.

Prior to the parade there will be a 1-mile fun run/walk where participants are encouraged to dress in their holiday finest. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. The run/walk begins at 4PM in front of the county courthouse.  Accompanying all the fun is a block party on state street, 3-6PM between Orange and Veterans Square featuring exhibitors, giveaways, contests, music and other treats. The block party is hosted by 101.1 More FM, Philadelphia's Christmas Station.

Q: What's in the parade?

A: It has something for everyone. Mummers. Floats. Music. Classic cars. Star Wars. Fife & Drum corps. Elvis. Living Nativity. Victorian Christmas. Santa & Mrs. Claus. And Live Reindeer!

Q: Is there a cost?

A: The parade, fun run/walk and block party are all FREE, but attendees are encouraged to donate an unwrapped gift for Toys For Tots or a non-perishable food item for Media Food Bank. Donations will be collected at the block party 3-6PM.

Q: Where should we go?

A: The parade route is similar to other parades in Media. It begins at State & Monroe, turns up Veterans Square and continues on Front Street back to Edgemont where the baseball fields are.

There's a map here: https://sites.google.com/site/santasparade2015/about-us

Q: Is there parking?

A: There is free parking at all the metered spots throughout the borough and also at the municipal lots shown on the map above.

Q: Where's the best place to watch:

A: Anywhere along State Street will be prime viewing areas. There will be an announcer at Spasso (State & Jackson) describing the various acts as they pass, and a second announcer at Vet Square.

Q: Will we see Santa?

A: Sure, it's Santa's Parade! Santa & Mrs. Claus lead off the parade riding in a brand-new sleigh built just for the occasion. If everyone cheers loud enough, Santa may also be encouraged to do an encore at the end of the parade to wish Merry Christmas to all and to all a good-night. Then, Santa will hang around for photos and a meet-and-greet at Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (100 West State Street).

Q: Can we get a picture with the reindeer?

A: The reindeer will be the first marchers in the parade beginning at 5PM - leading the way for Santa. Then they will be stationed at State & Olive where people can stop by for a closer look.

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: Like most community events in Media, pets are not allowed at Santa's Parade. You are welcome to bring Fido's wish list and give it to Santa at the meet-and-greet after the parade. That's only if your dog has not been naughty. . .

Q: Is there a rain-date?

A: This event is rain or shine. No matter the weather, we guarantee a 100% chance of snow on State Street at some point during the parade.

Q: What's the best-kept secret?

A: There will be a surprise Calypso Christmas Steel Drum performance on Plum Street Mall 3:30-4:30.

Q: Who is paying for this?

A: This community event is funded by many generous sponsors who contributed to make the parade and all the surrounding events happen. A volunteer planning committee has been working since January to put it all together and coordinate everything. The donors will be acknowledged during the parade and before and after in our publicity and social media marketing. Please thank them and support them with your patronage.

Q: I have other questions, is more information available?

A: The most up-to-date information is on the parade Facebook page:
