All pedestrian traffic is now prohibited from crossing the Third Street Dam. Unfortunately, there will be no motor vehicle access to West Street from 3rd Street, as that's been closed as well.
Depending on how long the work takes to rebuilt the two-way road, this could possibly be this way for 24 months.
Good screw all those partisans. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite the helpful bit of rhetoric.
DeletePeople can easily get around it.
ReplyDeleteThis work is just the initial breech of the dam and is being done by the Dept of Environmental Protection. It should last approximately 60 days. It is not the long-delayed, court ordered reconstruction. The plan was to close pedestrian access indefinitely until the real reconstruction work is done. However, several community groups from Media and Upper Providence are working with Delaware County Council to install a temporary pedestrian bridge across the breech so that pedestrian access can be restored until the main construction starts in the future.
ReplyDeleteTemporary pedestrian bridge not gonna happen.
DeleteWho is,gonna pay for it? Who,is gonna issue insurance on it?
Wouldn't the county and or Broomall need to authorize access to their property?
More FROG pipe dreams
Great, so now we can't access Glen Providence park from 3rd street for How Long????Yeah, indefinitely. Good going Media Council and everyone else who has allowed for this going on so long...
DeleteThe entrance isn't on the bridge... You still have access from 3rd st
DeleteJust replying to my above post and the comment that the temporary pedestrian bridge is not going to happen. Delaware County Council will be paying for the temporary bridge and have agreed to assume the liability, as it will be erected on the County right of way. While I too share doubts, many hurdles have already been cleared for this temporary bridge to happen and it looks very promising. Stay tuned for more information in the next 2 weeks.
DeleteI will be thinking about this continued debacle every time I'm sitting in the traffic in front of the west and flats.
ReplyDeleteYes the borough really wanted money first
ReplyDeleteSafety second wait until there is a major accident occurs due to new traffic patttern
I went down there today to see what was happening- NOTHING! No work being done, no equipment down there- just 'Road Closed' signs and the fence is up.
ReplyDeleteI tried driving down West Street from Front & Lemon but there is a "Road Closed' sign up as well as at the end of 3rd & West. One can gain entrance to Broomall Lakes but I guess to go into Glen Providence Park from 3rd street will require parking on 3rd street. Why isn't any work being done?
West End Flats appears to have installed well-marked, ADA compliant pedestrian pathway during privately funded construction. Why not the Third Street public project?
ReplyDeleteWhat happens if a handicap person that lives in the toll brothers development in upper providence wants to transport him or herself into media ?
ReplyDeleteUh I'm guessing they call paratransit.
DeleteWhat happens if a green eyed exterterestial purple people eater poltergeists itself out of the toll brothers development in upper providence wants to eat people in Media?
