This Stinks! Media Borough will need upgrades to discharge 2.2 (million gallons per day) of waste water into Ridley Creek.

Depending on the wind direction, it's not uncommon to smell the Aqua sewage treatment plant from the Media train station and surrounding areas.  The plant is located on the southwest side of town on Ridley Creek Road.  With a lot of development in Media going on, a lot more of "it" all has to go somewhere.

In June, Aqua submitted an assessment to the borough on the upgrades needed for the WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plant) they own and operate.  In it, they point out that the maximum monthly average wastewater flow into Ridley Creek is approaching the current permitted flow capacity of 1.8 MGD (Million Gallons per Day).  They recommend increasing it to 2.2 MGD, which is expected to approved by the Media Planning Commission and Media Borough Council.

A letter sent to Media Borough states: "Upon reviewing the plan with the public and resolving any comments, the Borough plans to adopt the ACT 537 Special Study at its meeting on August 17, 2017."

    When was the last benthic invertebrate study done on Ridley creek post treatment plant

    What are the qualifications of the people on the planning commission

    Think we need a third party assement on this matter after all Media Borough fired their previous retained engineering firm because
    Traffic and waste treatment issues

      All great stuff Sam, but the water has to go somewhere eventually. They are not dumping raw sewage into the creek, it is treated at the plant first. Also note, this is a private waste water plant, it is not run by the borough.
