*** Round 3 **** Fox29 Philadelphia visits Media, PA to investigate, interview and report on the mysterious Third Street Bridge Banner caper.
Make Third Street Great Again at having Hate Has No Home Here? Maybe that sounds more inclusive for all? Maybe not. It's too long of a slogan to make for a banner anyway, and really, the point has been made that the Third Street Bridge needs to be fixed. In fact, there were so many comments, even on this page, that Fox29 Philadelphia dropped by Media, PA to find out what was going on.
Here's the full story and the video above, but here are some key takeaways that readers will find interesting.
"I think the first banner triggered some people. The banner was donated by an anonymous couple that was frustrated with a lack of progress with Third Street," Swim Club Vice President Paul Cavanagh said. FOX 29's Chris O'Connell asked, "Nothing to do with Trump?" Cavanagh replied, "Not in my view."
"Something like that was meant to be a joke," Rachel Weiss said.
"Media police were even called. Although they aren't calling it a theft. They do say a swim club board member took down the sign himself saying it was too divisive."

Fox News should interview the boroughs mayor to get the straight story on 3rd street bridge. They should also investigate what media Borough paid council member Brian Hall to handle legal costs associated with the project
ReplyDeleteFox News should interview the mayor AND Brian Hall to answer these questions:
DeleteWhy did the borough let the grant $$ lapse and not reapply?
Why is the borough still in contempt for not moving forward with repairs after breaching?
(Cough, cough FROGS)
Why did the borough push a rezoning agenda AHEAD of necessary bridge repairs?
This is a throw-down to Fox News - see if you can get answers, god knows the community doesn't get any!
Are Media Borough taxpayers on the hook for the mayor and council members legal bill's in the Federal law suit being brought against the mayor and council members ? Can ATM look into this and explain in laymens terms ?
DeleteMaybe Mr. Cavanagh only had to turn around and point to the houses across from the swim club: current council VP, former councilman, former mayor, etc etc. Or perhaps that was edited out. That'll give some insight as to why the bridge hasn't been fixed......
ReplyDeletePaul Cavanaugh is as disingenuous and detached from truth as his president: Paul always has been and always will be out of touch. He has been highly active in the Republican party and knows exactly who that couple was and that they were republican and that there are democratic members of that club who would not have approved of the club being used for that purpose. This is exactly the kind of snarky, unconstructive behavior which has characterized Paul's involvement in town affairs. The next time you send a van out to Media, please make sure there is room for Paul to be taken back to Philly with you. A constructive guess would be that the couple who donated the sign was Mr. cavanaugh and his wife. A quick survey of the local republican sign show owners will likely reveal the truth. It would appear to me that channel 29 is as effective at investigation as Mr. cavanaugh is in having a clear and cogent view of his world.
ReplyDeleteAs a resident of media since 1974 it seems to be clear that if the local politicians didn't live near the site, this project would have been completed by now
DeletePerhaps a lawsuit is the only way to settle it ?
Anon 9:43 - what 'purpose' was the club being used for that you don't agree with? Calling out much needed bridge repair that affects daily access to the pool? And you don't characterize 'snarky, unproductive' behavior as, oh I don't know, obstructing the restoration for like 25 years? You are classic illustration of intolerance, and most likely an active, paid Antifa activist.
DeleteThey should come back and find out what embarrassing individual and/or group wasted money on that stupid fly by banner about the bridge that went over around 5:15 PM
ReplyDeleteThe sign is bringing attention to a
DeletePoorly managed borough with local officials who all happen to be democrats and all look out for themselves and only people with the same voting registration as them perhaps the ACLU should come to media borough
I've lived in different states and have never found a more difficult local borough / local govt to deal with.
DeleteSeems that they might look up your voter registration before deciding to help you or return a phone call
