I'll vote for almost anyone who is not currently on council. But, I'm no longer infatuated with Media, after over 10 years of living here I've seen too much. I'll be moving in the next year for many reasons, but I won't miss the theifdom of Media, petty bureaucrats, overzealous police, and, especially, the people. The people of Media are some of the most obnoxious and unfriendly of anywhere I've lived or visited. My hope is that all you weirdos enjoy yourselves living in a highly overrated town of mediocrity.
Goodbye and don't let the amazingly fast closing time on your house hit you in the rear end. If you look at real estate here in Media Borough, houses go up and subsequently off of the market in very short order. Often for above the list price. I'm very excited to get a neighbor who is an upgrade from you; if you actually live in the borough and aren't some Upper Prov or Middletown Repub masquerading as a borough resident.
Ummmm.... I live in Media and I'd like to think I'm pretty nice. Lived here 20+ years and never ran across any obnoxious, unfriendly neighbors. So....buh bye...
Well said! Media is nothing more than a district of West Philadelphia. Can't say much for middletown either with what they did with the Granite Run Mall.
Ryan Grace seems like a perfectly nice individual and I'm happy that he's served the people of Delco in the prosecutor's office.
That being said...........
Part one of his video is a pile of empty platitudes that lack any specific policy pronouncements other than the typical GOP / not actual Media borough residents talking points on the 3rd Street Bridge.
Part two was a most welcome repudiation of the Trump / GW Bush / Scott Wagner GOP that currently exists. I grew up voting for Eisenhower Republicans like Joe Loeper, Ted Erickson, and Arlen Specter but the current GOP passed those folks by long ago. Grace shouldn't have stopped short of naming Trump directly as what doesn't jibe with Media, but given most of the current Media GOP's on-line support is extreme right wing fascists (look at the likes and retweets on Straw's tweets if you doubt me) I understand why Grace lacked the fortitude to directly state the T word.
I'm not sure if I follow. Guy Media's point is that there are terrible people who support the GOP, as evidenced by the Chuds and white supremacists who signal boost their platform. That the GOP has no control over this is irrelevant.
You label people when you probably don't even know them. As far as I see Straw is an openly gay mellow man who has a Democrat for a partner. Hardly a far rightwinger. I met him at the Pride Day Event. I was proud helped to set up that event. Shame on you Guy Media.
Good Lord. Bad job on the comments, people. Media is a nice town with as many municipal issues as any other growing place. Like many towns in greater metro areas of big east coast cities, it has an unusual mix of hardcore progressives and old-time Republicans. This guy is at least a fresher voice--insincere in some ways, for sure, but what wannabe politician isn't--from a moderate, empirical Republican strain that most hardcore progressives refuse to acknowledge. The Swarthmore types in Media are certain that all Republicans are racist Catholics. This guy seems sane and straightforward. He's not great, but he's certainly better than the business as usual characters that occupy the seats.

ReplyDeleteYou sound pleasant. Good riddance to you.

DeleteActually the only consistently negative thing I have seen in Media has been the commenters here. Otherwise great!
DeleteI am voting for Straw, Grace, and Paine.
ReplyDeleteI don't care about him being a Republican or whatever. Who cares. Can you get the job done. That;s what I care about.
ReplyDeleteWell said! Media is nothing more than a district of West Philadelphia. Can't say much for middletown either with what they did with the Granite Run Mall.
ReplyDeleteNope he won't get my vote.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if he'd run against Trump I am still not voting for any Republican.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that.
DeleteI'll vote straight Republican

Do you understand twitter at all? People can't control who retweet and like their tweets.

DeleteSo what? If the person is a good person I'm going to vote for them.

ReplyDeleteI am going to vote for Michael Straw. He's actually the only person running on either side out there and talking about the issues.
ReplyDeleteI am PRO-LIFE. Does he think that I don't believe in science?
ReplyDeleteHe won't get my vote because of that.
DeletePro-life all the way!
Deleteanon 10:34 would you care to tell us what got you busted?
ReplyDeleteYes, Media cops overzealous?
DeleteSomeone ended up cuffed
Pro-science Republican? The labels are just going everywhere!
ReplyDeleteGet out of here. Support LIFE!
ReplyDeleteThis guy just came by my neighborhood recently. He didn't look like he knew what he was doing.
