Is Sassy Girl, too sassy for Borough Council?

This borders on absurd, but since people have been contacting me about it, perhaps you can decide.

First, take a good hard look at the following logo for Media's newest women's boutique, Sassy Girl.  Anything stand out or wrong about the silhouette caricature?

Don't hate Sassy Girl because she's pretty
I couldn't find anything wrong with the logo and many others couldn't either, however, Media Borough Council President, Brian Hall doesn't like it.  From what I'm told, its apparently too provocative and the skirt is too short.   Truthfully, I wouldn't have though twice about "a skirt being too short on a silhouette caricature," especially when it's up on an awning making it even harder to see.

The issue has been worked out and the logo is now up on the store's awning, but this just further illustrates how mis-managed Media's priorities are.

If he wants to ride around in a car and look a logos, fine.  But perhaps it's time borough council elect a new council president who can get Media's priorities in order and handle real issues that have and continue to affect this town:
  1. A CMAQ project that has languished since 1999 at the cost of $1.5 million, with approximately $200,000 costing Media Taxpayers.  This is the project that included the new traffic lights.  Problem is, there still not hooked up or synchronized.  See how long you wait at one of these traffic lights, when there is no perpendicular traffic.

Brian Hall and Monica Simpson both had two terms to manage this and it's still not working.  Springfield completed a similar project in TWO YEARS!
  2. Publicly speaking up for a school like Nativity, or any entity that's been in this community for 100 years.
  3. Making sure people show up to committee assignments and meetings.  Eric Stein didn't show up for 5 months to his MBA meeting and when he does he's late an unprepared.  Is Peter Williamson still the treasurer?
  4. Being forthright with information on legal lawsuits (Third St. Bridge) instead of placating groups who's petition he signed.
  5. Better understanding the difference between a "Golden Opportunity" and a sales pitch from infomercial salesmen.

  1. I cant believe what I am reading. Really? There is nothing wrong with the name or logo. The skirt is really finger tips height. Maybe the Board should take a look at their own children and making sure that for the BOYS- their pants are on their hips not below their butts! A belt would be nice. And have their daughters wear clothing that is less provocative, like fitted shirts and pants/ shorts. Stop crying wolf and be a parent to your own children and put your own foot down and tell them "no they can't wear that"! Lets focus on more serious issues that deserve more attention than this.

  3. My comment is only about the Sassy Girl logo:

It is adorable, the shop is amazing. I already bought two dresses from there, and when I wore one of them out to Dining Under the Stars people were stopping me to ask where I got it.

Barbie has larger dimensions than this logo, and Barbie is supposedly for little girls. During one of the Trolley Track fashion shows last year one of the 'more curvy' models was falling out of the top of her dress in live action. The Fair Trade Live concert hosts native dancers that wear only a few feathers to decorate their rear end, again live in person.

If their is a technical issue with paperwork, then that needs to be resolved, but the logo is adorable.

  6. You would think that there would be bigger things to worry about than a completely unoffensive sign. I hope that the voters remember this ridiculous waste of time the next election.

    2. Brian Hall is a complete waste of time. He is the ultimate blowhard and I voted for him. Never again fool me once well you get it.

    1. This comment was on the first published 'anonymous' post. Tedman, check your facts your fabrications are more than all the lovely dresses in the shop!

  8. I would like to add that I believe the Community Development Committee has the biggest issue with this, not Council as a whole.

  9. Becky, I would like to add that I don't want any of this type of publicity, honestly. I just wanted to open my doors and be welcomed with open arms without all of this drama. It actually would be nice if someone would write a nice, positive article about my store. Tom and I worked our butts off and were very excited to be moving into the business district. All of this controvery and negativity is getting to be too much!

  10. Wow! At first glance, this controversy seems bizarre. The logo would likely not offend the majority of society. I haven’t been in the shop but I assume based on the comments above that the same can be said for the merchandise. That said, I’ve been around long enough to know that things are often not as they appear and that the real issue is probably unrelated to this logo, and that some powers-to-be have a personal or business beef with either the business or building owners. Sorry for the store owners if this is unrelated to them…has to be very discouraging to make a large $/sweat equity investment only to have the town’s unwelcome mat rolled out at the grand opening.

  11. I read this blog almost every day. Maybe I shouldn't because every article posted makes me think that Media is populated (the local government, not the locals*!!) by a bunch of MORONS!

From the 3rd street bridge debacle, to the $20K 5 minute infomercial, to blocking the Super Wawa, and now THIS!!! Really, the local government sounds terrible.

I am actively looking to buy a house in the borough and the more I read this blog, the more I think its a bad move!

    * I just want to add that I think the LOCAL PEOPLE are amazing....which is the main reason I'm looking to move into the borough. Just wanted to clarify that.

    1. Move to Upper Providence! All the benefits of Media (schools, shopping, etc) without the 'one way or the highway' outlook of current boro leadership. Not saying we don't have our issues on this side of the (3rd st) bridge, but in comparison our council looks like a bunch of Einsteins next to Hall, Robinson, et al.
Or, move into Middletown (oh, wait, they need "their own police force"....) LOL

    2. Upper Providence is on the list too! Thanks for the heads up, though, on the leadership. There's literally NO available real estate in the borough anyway! hahaha....

  13. This is the absolute worst place to do business!!! DO NOT COME HERE! The woman who owns and runs the store has no clue what she is doing and should not be able run a business. She is nothing but a liar and a thief. Consigning clothes is a nightmare- every time you call to find out when to pick up your consigned clothes she is rude and says she doesn't know and that you have to give her notice. Even with notice she is extremely rude and still doesn't tell you when things need to be picked up. After months of pestering her she finally told me my items became store property because I didn't pick them up.. HELLO?! I did call and ask many time but she wouldn't give me the time of day. When I told her that I was going to report her to the police for theft, she told me to never call, email, or contact her again. She told me if I came in to the store she would have me arrested... Would you want to do business with someone like that? Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT COME HERE! Even if you are buying, her clothes are way over priced for what you get. Also, someone who is supposed to be a business professional should start dressing like one instead of dressing like a hooch.
