Super Wawa coming to Media?

With Wawa now just making Super Wawa's, it's always been a wonder  when one would come to Media.  The current Wawa at Baltimore Pike and Monroe Streets would do a lot more volume if the parking situation was better; and I'm not the only that thinks that.
Media Inn Circa 2010
Last year or so when the old Media Inn was being torn down the immediate thought was the land would be a prime spot for such a store.  Well, back then I was quite confident a deal wasn't in the works, but apparently that may change.  No definite plans have been made, but odds are there may be news on this sometime next year.

Not sure this helps or hurts Starbucks.  I have no problem buying gas at Wawa.  Coffee? A different story.

  1. I go to both Starbucks and WaWa, they will both get my business. As does every other coffee shop in Media, (coffee addict).

WaWa is a local company with historic roots in Delaware County. Abraham Lincoln was the Wood family lawyer, they were an iron factory back then... through WWII. Then they made textiles, baby diapers, for the baby boom. Then as the kiddos were growing up, they finally settled on dairy production.

  2. Diffr'nt strokes for different folks, but this doesn't hurt anyone--it 'raises the game' for everybody! Wawa is a great company, and I'll be eager to see what they've got to offer. And with all that coffee going on over there, 'Watch for aggressive drivers'!!

  3. I always pick Wawa over other gas stations because it's the cheapest. A super Wawa at that location would definitely impact the BP at Providence Rd & State St. Probably the Quizno's would not fare very well either.

  4. I think a Baja Fresh or Moe's Mexican fast food place would be a great addition too.

  5. Media ia already a traffic nightmare on that road with angry people blocking cross streets for locals. A monster WaWa ( lil walmart) there would further ruin the ambiance this town is gaining to lose by too much promotion/greed. Commercialized is not cute.

  6. With that empty space, the borough has the opportunity to start integrating Baltimore Pike back into the community. They need something there that engages the street, provides wide sidewalks for pedestrians, and encourages foot traffic (CUSTOMERS!!) to local businesses or service providers. That intersection has improved slightly in terms of traffic thanks to the PennDOT work on the lights, but dropping a super Wawa in there would be a nightmare. There is one on Edgemont Avenue in Brookhaven which is already a wasteland of parking lots and strip stores. If you want to save a few bucks on gas, drive the extra 10 minutes down there.

  7. Applebees was also looking at the location... I'd rather have a super WaWa. They are a great company to work for, managers with a 4-year degree make 80,000 a year. :-)

  8. No NO NO !!! It's hard enough to get through the intersection of Baltimore Pike and RT.#252
NOW add to that a Super WaWa .. Media Police
will be dealing with "accidents by the hour"....
NO WAY ... put in something, but NOT A SUPER
    WaWa.... Please!!!!!!

  9. Definitely not. It has no curb appeal and would lessen the unique character of the town.....
