The outcome of last night's Nativity BVM Rally

Many came out for last night's rally supporting Nativity's desire to stay in Media.  Courtney Elko, from  Media Patch provides and excellent write-up and video of the gathering.

  1. Just disgusted. Clearly nativity needs to drag SJ through the mud to try to win their case. Apparently folks at Nvbm are willing to make sure SJ out of date enrollment info gets posted (on media patch) but try to argue that their 800,000 wish list was "private info" not to be shared with the AD... By the way SJ currently enrolls children in all grades which is not reflected in the data shared on media patch which only goes to 2009. Further SJ also has a diverse enrollment and welcomes children of all races with open arms. One thing is clear Nvbm can't construct an argument to save their school without attempting to destroy the reputation of another school. Shame on you.

    1. Excuse me (SJ Anonymous), but isn't that what SJ did to NBVM win their appeal??

    2. Not at all SJC only stated facts about thier campus. Time to move on people

    3. Maybe we (Nativity) could ask to see the SJ presentation? It might help end the rumors and misperceptions.

    5. You should check with Fr. Hallinan at SJC. He provided the details of the appeal to the SJC parents. That is why the SJC families KNOW that nothing was even brought up about Nativty except for aerial views of both campuses (which speak for themselves). Not that I can speak for him, but Fr. Hallinan would probably be happy to share the appeal with Nativity families if asked. By the way, Nativity had representation at this appeal and had an opportunity to rebut anything presented during the appeal.

  2. Is this over yet? The lies, craziness and half truths are all out of control. You aren't fighting for your kids. The kids will be fine, unless the parents continue to make this awful for everyone.

    1. Believe it or not the parents are fighting for their kids. While there may be some people that choose to lie/use poor logic, there are more parents who simply want Nativity to stay open, based on what a unique and loving environment their kids are welcomed into every day-there are just some intagibles that Nativity has that other schools dont-we just want our kids to continue to have them. I speak from having my child in 2 other schools previously. There is just no place like Nativity!!

    2. Intangibles first of all are not measurable and that would be difficult to make a decision on. Me personally I don't think anyone is as unique as they think they are. As special as you think the environment i would argue the environment at SJ is just as special and so merging makes sense and I have also had children in several school environments. Having Christ at the center Is what I credit as being at the root of what makes SJ special and I would think the same must be true at nativity

    3. I think you have missed my point. While intagibles are not measurable they are exactly the reason I sent my child to Nativity in the first place. Again, this is not about Nativity vs SJ or any other school. I am simply saying my child and I love his school based on its qualities, which based on my experience are unique to Nativity.

  3. The diversity thing is sort of funny, if your current school is now diverse and you all move to a different location the diversity remains the same. Not really seeing how that is a valid point in this whole argument. The biggest issue if with the Media location is the lack of ADD compliance for the handicap.

It is time to move on people and plan for the future, both schools are closed. Make the merged school the best it can be, and stop trashing one another.

  4. This is so nuts. I can't even take it. It's over. You fought a great fight without embarassing yourselves too bad...well wait...nevermind. Here's a tip. Take Rose Valley Road not 252 to the new regional school. It will be okay. Don't say I neva gave ya nothin! BAWAHAHAHA!

  5. Watching this from afar, I have to say that I feel awful for the Nativity BVM connunity. I understand both parishes lost their schools, however the commission did grant the regional school to the BVM building and Media Borough. St. John's was able to present an appeal selling the commission and AD on their location, yet the Nativity BVM community was shut out from doing so - were they supposed to present an appeal solely to play defense? This decision by the AD is not fair to the parties at hand. I wish everyone in the parish the best because in this resident's eyes, you've been slighted.

  6. Steve,
Nativity home and school leaders as well as the Nativity pastor were present for and in support of the appeal. Their leadership was in step with this decision.

    1. From what I heard there was no adequate time given to counter with a full presentation. St. John's got to exploit the one-appeal deal and got away with it.

  7. So what do we make of this new turn of events now that Mrs Johnston backed out of her acceptance of the job at the regional school?

  8. Amen! So I'm not the only one who thought let me check this blog to see if anyone knows what the hay is going on? Nativity folks do you have some plan in the works that involves the principal? I have to say I'm disappointed because I heard a nice things about her.

  9. P.s. kudos to her for doing it now and not later.

  10. Oh of course they do! Come on!! I thought that immediately! Sneaky sneaky shady shady. Kudos to St Johns for not doing anything on the sneaky tip! Weasles!

  11. Get a life! Did anyone know that she has health issues? That maybe the stress from all this negative talk, was too much for her to handle. Not only did both schools lose out on a wonderful leader for a school that could have it all. There will be another principal now and only good things can come from all of this.If you are free to go to any school of your choice then you don't have to worry anymore. The only thing you better hope for is that the choice you make is for the best interest for your children.I can't blame Principal Johnson for stepping down, you have been let down by alot of people that you thought had your best interest in mind. Life goes on and this will all be forgotten.I dont feel anything sneaky went on, just poor judgement of words.I hope that parents can put aside their anger and make the best decisions with clear minds.
