Some lucky guests will get to attend the soft opening of La Porta on Wednesday, but the Grand Opening is slated for Thursday, May 17th.  Let me know what you think!

  1. I really enjoy this blog for stuff like this, the restaurants, events and the information about the possibilities of new businesses in Media.

The political agenda stuff gets to be really insufferable at times and turns me off from reading this blog. I have spoken with quite a few other people and they share this sentiment. I realize you have personal political agenda yourself and if that is what you are trying to accomplish with this blog, it is your right. If you want to be taken seriously and not turn people off I'd ease up a little bit on it outside of the comments area. I am sure this comment will never see the light of day, just figured you'd may want to know.

    1. Well, anon, I hate to tell you, but the info on restaurants, events, etc are just an excuse for calling this political 'organ' (and a small one at that) a 'blog'. It's what's called something like a "ship sandwich"-- a big old, stinky political ship in between a couple of slices of something sweet, inoffensive and airy....

    2. I dont understand your tie in to politics, to me this announcement is stating this is the old infamous Locust Crest (over 60 years old) finally reopening after a year, and what a transformation. I am excited to see the new menu and what the new clientele will be. The Locust holds a special place in my heart, and Im sure Im not the only one who thinks so. I wish the Good Dr. much success!! ;)

  2. I think the OP was just stating that this type of article about a restaurant is the kind of information he enjoys the most from this blog; the stuff that is particularly useful and informative. I think he was highlighting the fact that some of the more overtly political and agenda-focused articles on the site tend to detract from this type of community-focused information and make the overall blog cumbersome and tedious. I tend to agree.

So does anyone really care about the blog?

  4. The nice thing about blogs (and the internet) is that if you don't like something, you don't have to read it. I enjoy reading this blog, both for the local politic (for which I have no horse) and the special interest.

If you follow ATM on Twitter or Facebook, it is easy to parse out the news you don't like from the overall blog.

And that last comment. If you are going to be nasty to the guy, at least grow a set and don't post anonymous.
