Make way for new condomimiums at Edgemont and Jefferson Streets
It's been
approved for sometime, but now the shovels are hitting the ground to
make way for the condominium clusters going in at Jefferson and Edgemont
Streets.
You obviously dont know what the heck youre talking about. People are attracted to Media for many reasons, including some moderately priced housing. Media is not overbuilt!
Media will benefit fron some additional density. It will help, not hurt. Media is nowhere near being "overbuilt". When people start proposing midrise buildings, then you have to be careful.
It's about time. Should help enhance property values. Media is far from overdeveloped. Actually it's somewhat underdeveloped; there are several sites around town that just languish. If greedy land owners are trying to milk it for everything it's worth and sitting on it without a care in the world there's a way to handle that: jack up the property taxes big time on undeveloped land.
If Media was overbuilt, the houses would not cost as much as they do. Buyers definitely pay a premium to live in the Borough. To think that once upon a time the dream was some single home on a large lot disconnected from everything. Back then one could easily afford a house in the Borough. Now, it's the hot place to be; it's fashionable to live in an actual town. Hence, people with money paying top dollar for homes in the Borough. Quickly morphing from "Everybody's Hometown" to "Everybody's Hometown, As Long As You're Loaded."
Mr. Tedman: What are you doing? You have not published my comment from last night. Was it opinionated? Sure, but that's what blogs are all about. It was civil and reasonable commentary. Meanwhile, other comments actually insult specific people by name and you allow that?? You can't fail to publish something because you may disagree with it ideologically. Well, of course, you can but by doing so you acknowledge that your commentary section is a complete and utter farce. Other than that I enjoy the updates about developments and so forth. Respectfully, phillyboy.
The devastation to our neighborhood is extreme. ALL trees surrounding the property were cut down, leaving Jefferson Street with the "fabulous" view of barren, tree-less, crass and commercial Baltimore Pike. Shame on you, developers!!! You have ruined a much-loved part of Media.
It'll give people jobs for a few months...which is always a good thing. I'm sure they will be over priced and ugly cookie cutters though.
ReplyDeletePeople build build & build until they destroy what attracted them to a place to begin with.

ReplyDeleteA suburban town doesn't need condos.
