ZAC's Burgers closes store in Media, PA

Zac's Burgers in Media closes.

Last week I alluded to the closure of a store on State Street, though with held the name until final.  Well, now it’s final.  Zac’s Burgers located on the corner of Orange and State Street has closed its Media store for good.  You can read theinterview with the owner and reasons for why the business couldn’t continue atMedia Patch.

With what is considered a very desirable location in downtown Media, it’ll be interesting to see what takes the place of Zac’s.

  2. First off the owner use to have a big sign saying "we never have nor ever will have fried onions". He made a big stink about it. Probably because Charlies in Folsom has fried onions and far superior burgers - though they are closed on Tuesdays. But I digress, so I asked the question why don't you have Fried onions one day while I was in there. The person behind the counter told me that they can't do fried onions because it will run all over the grill and ruin it for the people who don't like fried onions. Interesting I said, so how the hell do the cheesteak places do it then? She said well that is what the owner said. Long story short, a year later they had a sign saying they now have fried onions! How brutal dude. The guy makes a big stink about fried onions only to add them later. I mean the sign and all is just ridiculous.

He is the bottom line, rumor has it that he they were late on rent for the past 6 month because they were struggling financially. The service is terrible, the owner is rude and the food is mediocre. It was only a matter of time - good riddance! I say let the hot dog guy move in there. As long as charlies is around there is no reason to go to sacs - unless it is a Tuesday. The go to the Last Stand and get a hot dog on mcdade blvd. Viva la France!!

    1. Interesting take on events, but I'm not going to Charlie's, let alone anything nasty on MacDade Blvd, to grab food if I live in Media.

    2. you're a Media snob MediaMike. Plenty of great food on Macdade Blvd. Including Anna's, Pizza Guys, Gateway diner,The new Italian Village, just to name a few. I like Media grub too...I'm just not a food snob

    3. Original Charlie's is a Delco Treasure. Thank God it's not in Media, the resident Liberals would PC it to death.

    4. Please explain how one would "PC it to death". I really would like to know what you mean by that statement. Sounds like the insights of a well educated thoughtful person, and I would like to hear more of your views.

    5. you need not look further than the planning commission pushing Wawa for electric charging stations and solar panels, who the heck is the local government to determine what kind of business model or practices the particular organization wants to proceed upon? something tells me that market demand and operating costs should carry much more weight than overintrusive liberals.

    6. Sorry, trying to turn this into a conversation about a proposed Super Wawa does not address the issue at hand. If you are going to throw out some nonsensical statement like "PC it to death" regarding Charlie's Hamburgers, please specifically explain how the "resident Liberals would PC it to death."

    7. You asked for examples and, pal, you got some good ones. Don't get worked up if the examples happen to be over recent issues.

  3. "the rent was too d*mn high!" was probably what happened at Zac's. See also: On A Roll vacating this spot around 2005 and moving half block up to a smaller location at Jasper and Orange.

The staff at Zac's was completely rude. Part of the problem was I believe the owner's kid(s) and relatives worked there, hence, little to no accountability. Food was meh. Front Street has better milkshakes. For burgers I'd seek out a Five Guys if I ate corn-fed beef.

Which brings me to this suggestion. Anyone who wants to open an Elevation Burger franchise at the former Zac's spot would make a fortune. Elevation Burger uses (organic) grass-fed beef. This would attract a lot of Medians who have moved into town in the last decade.

    1. I've had Elavation Burger before, tastes like greasy cardboard.

    2. Probably because you were at "Elavation Burger" and not Elevation Burger. "Elavation Burger" probably uses horse meat.

    3. wow, pointing out the misspell, time to run away. The comment stands for "Elevation Burger", vastly overrated joint.
