DOZENS OF LOCAL JOB SEEKERS HIRED FOLLOWING 2012ACCESS TO JOBS EXPO
Delaware County Council and DCMTA Pleased with EXPO Outcome

MEDIA, PA – Dozens of job seekers have found steady employment, just in time for the financially difficult holiday season.  The hiring comes as a result of the 2012 Access to Jobs EXPO, presented by Delaware County Council and Delaware County Transportation Management Association back in October.

Many of the companies who attended the EXPO are reporting that they’ve found solid candidates to hire.  In particular, Home Depot says they hired 15 part-time employees, and are still searching for more.  Monarch Staffing has about 20 candidates in the hiring process, with eight having been placed already.  Other companies that report new hires include TD Bank, Carelink Community Support Services, and Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union.  Others, such as Republic Bank and Goodwill, are seriously considering a few candidates.

Delaware County Council Chairman Tom McGarrigle said he was encouraged that so many employers and prospective employees both attended the 2012 EXPO.

“It’s great to hear that people found employment opportunities as a result of the Jobs EXPO.  On County Council, we are well aware of the tough economic times that some of our residents are facing, and helping those people access potential employment is one way that we can help both our residents and our business community,” McGarrigle said.

DCTMA Executive Director Cecile Charlton is pleased by the EXPO outcome.

“I am thrilled that several of our vendors were able to place new employees, and that a diverse group of job seekers were able to find employment just in time for the holidays,” she said.

The 2012 Access to Jobs EXPO was held on October 11 at Springfield Country Club.  It featured 35 employers, and drew more than 500 job seekers.

The Access to Jobs EXPO was also presented by Pennsylvania CareerLink, the Delaware County Commerce Center, and the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.
