Media, PA by the Numbers - Population Growth (-3.72%)

Per usa.com, Media's population has contracted 3.72% over 10 years
If anyone had asked me if the population of Media, PA had increased over the last ten years, I'd have said with out hesitation, YES!  Apparently, I'm wrong.

Based on usa.com statistics, which covers the demographics of each and every town in Pennsylvania, the numbers prove otherwise.  Since 2000, they show the population has decreased by -3.72%.  Now that only works out to be less than 200 people, but interesting none the less.

Some other interesting facts:

  1. I see from your link that Centralia is down to a population of 10. Those are some stubborn holdouts for a town that still burns underground!

  3. What if any part of West Chester University is within the boundaries of West Chester Borough? Students tend to live in multi-family units and that would increase the WC population density as compared to Media Borough.

That median house price data compared to median household income data is disheartening for the middle class family who wants a nice quality of life in Media Borough. "Everybody's Hometown" indeed...

    1. Not "Everbody's Hometown" anymore. If I wasn't here for decades, I couldn't afford the Real Estate prices in 2013.
My son can't afford to move back, though he wants to.
