Congratulations to Media local, Brendan O'Riordan and his team for embarking on yet another video project about Delaware County. In a follow-up to their 2010 documentary, "The Bazaar of All Nations" in Clifton Heights, this effort will focus on the "Golden Mile" that stretched throughout Springfield township on Baltimore Pike.
The Golden Mile was never actually a specific geographical coordinate, but the name given to many automobile dealerships and the businesses that supported a once thriving industry between Springfield, PA and Clifton Heights. This at one time included Ferraro Cadillac, Springfield Ford, Charlie's Hamburgers, Alpine Inn and even places like the world famous, Stanley Kup bar.
The project's in its infancy stage with no release date announced yet. However, check out the great article in delcotimes this week about the video and how the idea came about. As for Media, Brendan also wrote a great article about the history of the Media Trolly.
