How good is your cell phone coverage in Media? What's your experience with T-Mobile?

Again this week I was asked if T-Mobile’s coverage is good enough to justify a switch.  This is hard to gauge without people’s input, but with a recent move by T-MOBILE to pay you to leave your current carrier, it may be worth a frank discussion. I use AT&T and have for years.  I found their coverage(iPhone 4s) here in Media borough to be quite good for both voice and data(3G), but I imagine at a cost of over $100 per month, I could do better on price.  I’m not looking to change carriers, but with T-Mobile offering a compelling deal, it may come down to just how good does T-Mobile cover Media and the surrounding area.

If you have service by T-Mobile, or any of the other carriers in Media you’d like to comment on, quite a few people would appreciate hearing your experience.

  1. Check the coverage maps, but I believe t-mobile uses the att towers...

  2. My Verizon coverage (in Upper Prov) is awful and att is just a llittle bit better.

  3. T-Mobile has an advantage in that it supports Wi-Fi calling. Without Wi-Fi, I can't get calls on my mobile at home; with it, calls come right through.

  4. I am a local T-Mobile user - came from Verizon. The local network is admittedly not quite as good. It isn't bad, but if I were perfectly honest it seems a bit weaker. Having said that, when dollars and cents are also considered, I feel the move to T-Mobile is totally worth it. And as the other writer commented, whenever you are hooked into wi-fi, everything is great.

    1. I would concur with anon 5:03. While T-Mobile isn't quite as good as Verizon the cost difference is worth the move.

  5. I have been with Verizon for about 7 years. No problems with Verizon Wireless. Hardly any dropped calls. Always a good signal in the Borough.

  6. The difference for me is coverage on road trips. I travel south with my kids and nobody beats Verizon for coverage. For safety I stay with them.

  7. We have been w/Verizon for as long as we've had a cell phone (originally "a bag car phone") As a matter of fact back then it may have even gone by a different name? Believe it or not, back in the day, - for the longest time when ever we wanted to make a cell phone call we had to go to the attic of our home for decent reception. We were told by Verizon they were adding cell towers and our service should improve. They (apparently) did and now we can place a call anywhere in the house and have had great coverage in our travels out of state.

  8. We get really good coverage in the borough, including good LTE connection for data. Outside the borough is less consistent.

  9. Have had T-Mobile on a HTC 4G HSPA+ Android phone for last 2 years. Would recommend. HTC actually fixed the phone for free at one point - when T-Mobile would have charged for the service. I think I'm limited by carriers that I could switch the SIM card to, as AT&T only allows LTE phones to move to their network. T-Mobile limits my 4G usage to 2GB and then downgrades it to 2G rather than charging extra - which hasn't been a problem.
