Berry Fresh Cafe coming to State Street in Media, PA

Berry Fresh Cafe to open at this location in August 2014
In addition to the big announcement this week regarding news about Sterling Pig Brewery, yet another business is making plans to open another eatery on State Street.  Located on the westside of town, preparation are underway for the opening of Berry Fresh Café (former location of My Three Sons Hotdogs).  From what I understand, this place is scheduled to open in August and will carry smoothies and meals influenced by south american cuisine.

Berry Fresh Café, welcome to Media, PA and good luck with your store.

  1. Now that is something I can get behind. We have needed something like this in town for some time. We are overrun with pizza and hoagie shops, it is time for something a little more diet friendly

    1. There are two other smoothie places (Mango's and another on either Jackson or Olive St). There was another on Orange St, but didn't last long.

    2. I don't mean to be negative but I just don't see this place making it for very long.

    3. So excited for this place! It's Acai bowls from Brazil and organic sandwiches

    4. Look I am the guy that said I don't want to be negative. The problem as I see it is that these foods Acai bowls etc. are very inexpensive in Brazil and are meant to be affordable. Just like the hot dog place that charged $6:00 for a hot dog and the New Orleans Cafe that inflated their prices when they moved to Media these foods are meant to be cheap. However, because rents in Media are so high food that should be cheap isn't. Just my take on things.

    5. Just returned from Brazil and acai bowls were around $5-7 at most reputable places (taking into account currency exchange). The beach kiosk have cheaper versions but not as good. In the U.S., most acai bowls sell for around $6-10 depending on toppings, etc. So, I don't see the correlation from very inexpensive in Brazil to inflated prices here in the states.

  2. This place isn't really compelling enough to make it. More smoothies and overpriced sandwiches? No thanks.

  3. Sounds different and different is good. There is too much of the same stuff in Media. Want pizza or a hoagie, every block has two places. I will definitely be trying it!!!!

  4. Actually the store will be selling organic Gmo free, organic sandwiches and smoothies. It will be dairy free, Gluton free and all natural ingredients that aren't available anywhere around here. The Acai bowls come from the Amazon and are huge in Brazil as well as the west coast. They taste great and will come with choices of healthy toppings such as granola, Fiji berries, fruits and local raw honey. Menu and website with prices will be available shortly.

  5. Looking forward to this place opening and bringing a fresh idea to town. Let's welcome them to Everyone's Hometown and wish them much success! Sounds like some uninformed haters here ready to pass judgement already, probably the same people who think Borough Council is doing an excellent job. And it sounds like there's a big difference between a frozen yogurt shop and this concept.

    1. I wish them luck but it really sounds like more of the same to me.

    2. @ Anon 7/19 @ 6:54 PM.

I'm willing to be that you have that 100% backwards. Those of us who correctly point out the positive role our council has in maintaining the quality of life we enjoy in the borough tend to be more of the smoothie and organic crowd anyway.

  10. i dont know what is in their smoothies. but the only ones in town currently are full of dairy and sugar. i would like a place that served a real all fruit/vegetable smoothie.

  11. No dairy, gluten, gmo or added sugar in the smoothies. Here is some more information as to what an Acai bowl is and what it has in it so you can know what to expect. It's definitely not food for poor people as suggested above and the price for a full bowl will only be around $8 so please don't worry about hi prices and over priced sandwiches etc. :)

    1. As opposed to an $8 hoagie anywhere in Media?? Enjoy the $24 chicken breast dinner at every restaurant on state street and I'll be at this new place enjoying a healthy meal. When is it opening btw?

  14. The negativity surrounding a place that isn't even open yet is atrocious. Can't wait to try it and see it. Different doesn't mean grungy, expensive or won't make it like some have commented...I'm with the people who have commented positive and glad to see healthy and different. Don't be so judgmental without even knowing.

    1. I agree completely. The people who have nothing better to do than pre-bash a business before it even opens are typical of the typical close-minded idiots who find their way onto the comments section here far too often. I doubt all of them live in town to begin with. I give a lot of credit to anybody who wants to start their own business and wish them well. I thoroughly enjoy reading Tedman's rundowns of local goings-on and especially new businesses, but this whole stream of negativity is what happens when the "F U Davidson" type posters run amok on everything.

  15. My genius marketing plan would to be have Chip Kelly do a smoothie endorsement.

  16. Anon 6:04 while you may have been joking that is a good idea. Chip believes in healthy smoothies for the Eagles. I have never seen Kelly endorse or do commercials.
