Dangerous washout of Third Street Bridge occurred on Monday. Please be Aware!

Despite the lengthy and costly mismanagement of Third Street Bridge by Mayor McMahon and Borough Council, which ultimately led to finding the borough in contempt of court in 2014 by Judge Proud; the bridge now has an immediate problem that may not wait for the the much needed replacement.

Based on best estimates, the work to replace this bridge most likely won't begin to until 2017 or 2018. In the meantime, last Monday's (6/8/15) rain dangerously eroded portions of the bridge.

Folks, please be extremely cautious when walking, jogging or strolling across this bridge.  In fact,  I'd avoid it entirely during any kind of rainfall.  Judging from what I saw, most of the roadway on top is being hollowed out from underneath due to storm water.  However, it was noted that the DEP who recently inspected the bridge stated it was not in any danger of breaching.

  1. The FROGS could not be reached for comment, but we're rumored to be "smiling ear to ear"

Project "Greenway" was a complete success, to the detriment of the rest of the community.

  2. The stalling from the borough on this project is disgraceful. They are purposely dragging their feet in order for this to fail. I understand when DEP representatives were surveying recently, that their eyes were opened as to who and how this project has been stalled. People in Media better wake up and understand this council is not interested in anything that doesn't have 'Fair Trade' or 'Farmers Market' written all over it.

  3. It is hard for the public to monitor and report concerns as was requested in previous (and quickly-removed) DEP notice. Why is there a tarp blocking view of lake level and spillway?

  4. If the bridge is closed why is anyone "walking, jogging or strolling" across it? Isn't that trespassing?
