The loss of one parking space is not going to make a bit of difference in Media, yet one of these little parks will benefit dozens of people and maybe even increase business in Media. One of these would be a win for the Borough with almost no downside. It's a no brainer.
They don't necessarily need to be placed on State St. Better yet, these particular parklets are designed and installed by a local Philly firm. In fact one of the designers lives in Wallingford.
One purpose of the street scaping on Market Street in Philly is to stop people from jaywalking, not really a huge problem in Media. We must have a huge surplus in our borough's budget because council sure seams to be spending an aweful lot of money these days!
I love these spaces! I think the scale of them could work really well in Media.

ReplyDeleteIt's difficult enough trying to walk down State Street .. let alone taking parking spaces

DeleteI don't think so ... Media does not need any open space being taken away whether it be walking area or parking ... Really this is not COOL
