Contractor meeting for dam and roadway removal at Broomall Lake |
After 21 years, things are starting to happen for the 3rd Street bridge replacement. Today, a meeting was held to solicit contractor bids for the removal of the dam, which is expected to begin in the coming months. There are plans in place by the DEP to remove the turtles that currently reside in Broomall's lake.
Once removal is completed and a temporary setup constructed, plans will continue for the permanent structure and roadway which will be a two-way street, as it once was many years ago.
Unfortunately, much of the hold up led to Media Borough Council being held in contempt of court who for many years obstructed the fix. One of the former members of borough council was even found to have set up and provided an undisclosed website to a group (Friends of Glen Providence Park) who used it to lobby the borough against such repairs.
Its about time!
