5th Street Park Steering Committee Created

Site of future park at 5th and Broomall Streets

Media Borough seeks residents for volunteer steering committee responsible for discussing and recommending ideas for the newly acquired land at 5th Street.  Recommendations of the committee will influence how the park will be developed, physical improvements and parking.

The committee will begin in October and complete recommendations by April 2018.

  1. Can one of the reccomendations br to
Auction off the land at a profit so the proceeds can go to quality of life improvements that benefits all residents
Veterans square improvements being one of them. Probably won't have a crowd of residents contesting Veterans square updates like we saw with the Pocket Park Meeting.

    1. Hmm….Interesting. Why would you consider a public park – available to everyone – as something that will not “benefits all residents”? In fact, I am sure there are people that would benefit from this park more than veterans square improvements. Both veterans square and the new park (as well all existing open space areas in the borough) are important, valuable resources to our community…and they all share equal value as resources for all borough residents. Just because you don’t like the park does not mean it has any less value than the things in the borough you prefer. We are all in this together, right?

    2. Haven't met a single resident adjacent to the park that wants it
Have randomly asked people while walking on orange street and the alley behind their opinion should matter !
Obviously Brian Hall doesn't care about these people

    3. I live/own property directly adjacent to the park and I am not opposed to it and I have talked to most of my neighbors and neither are they so I am not sure where you are getting your information from. All I ask is the Borough keep the public and adjacent property owners aware of the project and process and the opportunities to be involved.

    4. Given the track record of what goes on at thea at Media Elementary School park- your obviously not against taking risks . Volunteer to be on the steering committee I hope the costs are kept in check and by all means please inform the public of the the status of the grant money that is paying for this park

    1. Tedman is getting jealous that there are better websites than his. Notice he rarely will allow posts that mention his name.

  3. HA! You have to love the irony, Media. While the Middletown Coalition on Safety is battling the powers to be, including Gov. Tom Wolf, to the point of chaining themselves to trees over the ME2 pipeline; Media borough settles an easement for property they own in Middletown for $350k to allow the pipeline. Weeks later, they purchase a lot from a Media borough employee for $350k to build a park.

One bad decision after another. Once they put six parking spaces on the lot and porta potty's, it'll be barely big enough for 5 people to fit. Yet, it'll still attract the non-sense people continue to deal with at the Media Elementary playground.

    1. I am sick of complaining about pipeline in Middletown! Its bring more energy and jobs to the area. Go hug a tree somewhere else.

    1. How dare you be this inconsiderate to those with disabilities and bathroom needs. Should we also exclude those who are physically handicapped because your park wasn't required to provide adequate access?

    2. I hope they erect a gigantic "Hate has no home here" sign. That should keep the ne'er-do-wells away.

  5. Groan. Too bad people with jobs have a challenge getting involved in these committees. It always ends up being the same "self employed" folks making all of the decisions in Media.

  6. Media doesn't care and neither do the people who don't live next to this trainwreck. Media borough is about as genuine as the hate has no home here yard sign phonies.

  7. Media borough sure did a number on the people living next to the ME2

I guess Brain Hall's nimby syndrome just was too much for the monety that big oil
Has to throw at things they could have at least tried but once again there are no voters that matter in Aston or Middletown
