Ice Cream Truck rolling through Media Borough

Over the last few weeks I heard what sounded like a jingle from an ice cream truck.  It's a familiar sound that's not easy to explain, but you know it when you hear it.  Today, I actually saw the truck roll down 6th St. in all it's glory.  No takers this evening, but interesting to see such a service back in the community.   Bomb pops? pushup ice cream?  I guess, but haven't checked the menu.

I don't know how long the ice cream truck has been running, but I've heard it for a few weeks around the upper east side of Media.  Prior to that, I can't ever remember hearing or seeing an ice cream truck anywhere in the borough.  Interested to see if the rest of the borough has seen or heard this truck and if it's been operating just this year or if it's been around longer.

  2. It's been around longer. I remember running by it a few times last summer - so at least that long.

I past it a week ago while driving, and enjoyed seeing all the wild-eyed kids tearing around corners and down the sidewalks to chase after it.

  3. Is it licensed?
Does a food truck of that nature require a permit?

    1. He should have a Media mobile vending permit and a Media health license displayed inside his service window so patrons and code enforcement can see them.

    2. I was told this guy is a gypsy and does not have a vendor's permit.

    3. He might be able to get one in 16 years with about a dozen community and council studies.

  4. My children have been listening to SIlly Joe's icecream truck story and looking all over for the ice cream man. I was wondering why there are no ice cream trucks around here! Anyone knows his route?

  6. The Ice Cream truck has been around media since the 70's. It' comes around starting late spring through October. As for liscenseing.. for God's sake it's an ice cream truck.. nostaligic to say the least. Why can't we just enjoy a piece of the past without always putting stipulations on everything. Live and Let Live!!
