It's Sunday Morning.....Media in Two Minutes!

#mediapa

We're in the middle of two big weeks for Media.  Last week proved to be quite daunting with the arrival of Superstorm Sandy. Clean up still continues, but for the most part people have had their power restored.  I was surprised to learn that the Holly House was without electricity for two days.

Next week brings election day on Tuesday, November 6th.  If you have extra time, even a hour or two, please consider helping out at you local polling place.  Check back on election day, ATMpa will be providing live updates and coverage throughout the day.  I'll also provide unofficial polling results for Media Borough.  We'll have a team setup to handle that, but I do expect we'll have the results before most outlets

Ok, let's go....!

The storm that was Sandy
Aside from the news coverage on the devastation in New York and New Jersey, the one thing that I'll remember about this storm will be the fierce winds that howled through the borough.  Don't remember hearing wind like that in a long time, if ever.

If you looking for a few photos of the event, check out the earlier posts this week.  Even though it was on stand-by, turns out no one needed to use the emergency shelter setup at Springton Lake Middle School.

What will be of the Super Wawa?!?!
From what I'm hearing the news isn't reassuring that a Super Wawa will be coming to town.  However, you have an opportunity to speak up.  Consider attending the November 7th planning commission (7:30) meeting at Media Borough Hall and voice your concerns.

53rd Veterans Day Parade - November 12th 2012 11:30am
This is always well attended event for Media.  Come out and support the veterans.  Among many notable speakers, I believe Pennsylvania Senator, Pat Toomey will be on hand too.

The 10th annual Jazz by Night - November 17th
Perhaps the lesser known of the media musical series, the 10th Annual Jazz by Night will be November 17th.

Class Reunions are approaching....
Penncrest Reunions
For dates and times of upcoming reunions, check out the Penncrest Alumni Facebook page.  I'll see if they can update on a regular basis to keep people informed.

Remember when?
6 years ago before Ariano's restaurant, there was a skate shop in Media called Board Stiff.  It was there a few years and located on the corner of Olive and Baker Streets.

Kudos to Chick-Fil-A in Middletown!!!
Chick-fil-A helps out the community
With the ravages of Superstorm Sandy last week, many were with out power.  I heard that a business in NJ was changing $10 per hour to let people charge their gadgets.  Not here in our area, Chick-Fil-A in Middletown not only let you use their WIFI and charging for FREE, but also openly offered their indoor playground for restless kids.  They also gave out free coffee!

  1. Board Stiff was a nice store. I still have the skateboarding helmet that I bought there. I use it for bicycling (don't care for the normal "conehead style"). Be nice if a new skateboard shop would open up. Be even better if Media built a state of the art skate park somewhere in town. Would really increase the town's cool factor.

    1. I don't know if I want that type cool factor in town. Skate parks tend to not do a very good job keeping the skaters in them and tend to produce a lot of trash that gets littered all over the place. Maybe Rocky Run Y or Granite Run Mall could put a skate park for that purpose.
