Double Decker Pizza Applies for Transfer of Liquor License to Media

Double Decker Pizza Applies for License
It was bound to happen sooner or later, because you can't have just pizza without beer.  Pinocchio's does a booming business with this model and now Double Decker Pizza is joining suit.  Media's newest restaurant is making plans to bring a liquor license to their location at 415 E. Baltimore Avenue.

A public hearing is set for October 17th 7:30pm at council chambers to allow the borough to hear public comments about this request.  The consideration for the request will be held at the normally scheduled borough council meeting.

I don't believe Media Borough ever definitely set a cap for liquor licenses in the borough, as they look at and approve each and every one based on a case-by-case evaluation.  Meaning, if you operate like a wholesome, well run business in their eyes, you'll probably get one.  As for something like a Hooters, you might have a problem.

  2. TM, thanks for the heads up, a whole lot more effective than a legal ad in the local paper. By the way, have you ever determined whether the MBA advertises their meetings as required by the Sunshine Act?

  3. OK TM. As a candidate for Mayor, riddle me these: Is the Borough legally allowed to establish a cap on the number of liquor licenses, or must the borough give every one legal consideration? May we infer that you believe Hooters to be a less than wholesome business? Is that belief enough legal grounds for the borough to deny an application? Does the borough have the legal authority to approve or deny such an application? You're our man.... now you're under some pressure.

  4. How can we be sure that the applicant are the ones who will actually end up with the liquor license?

  5. Where is the traffic study that is a very congested part of town near the starbucks. Has anyone seen the traffic report? Won't this increase traffic on game days? That parking lot is hard to enter and exit as it is, maybe they could use the liquor license money to make a Greenway instead.
