Try Walking A Mile in Media's Shoes - Many Are Delighted To

I have no problem with the fact that West Goshen Township was ranked 10th on Money Magazine's 2013 list of "America's Best Small Towns." I do, however take issue that Media, PA wasn't even listed, let alone mentioned.  To support this complaint is yet another reason why it should have been: Media's ranked very high, being one of the most walkable communities around as found on walkscore.com (Yes, there's such a website).

Not only did Media score a 74 (Quite Good), I had trouble finding another, similar town that even came close.  Throw in the fact that public transportation is accessible too, and you have even a stronger case.

Projected range of how far the average person can walk in 20 minutes.

Me and my wife walk Media all the time--45 minutes.

  2. Very interesting..I like sites like this. West Chester was comparable and surprisingly, Phoenixville had a score of 95. But for me, Media's proximity to the airport and public transit into the city far outweigh the increased potential walk-ability of those areas in Chester county.

  3. We must have lost points because of that dam bridge, or because we don't have a Super Wawa.

    1. True! Especially considering one can still walk across the bridge and doesn't need to put gas from a Super Wawa into a pair of sneakers in order to walk.

  5. You can walk to get your nails or hair done, get copies made or see your lawyer. What else? You can't get what's needed in order to live without leaving Media.

  6. Well, there's a grocery store, a pharmacy, medical providers, Deals and public transportation for everything else. Still miss the hardware store - how about bringing an Ace Hardware to 252 and Baltimore Pike?

  7. A few years ago I put my Nativity BVM address in one of these and the walk score was in the 90s. That seemed a lot more accurate to me. The only thing I can't find within walking distance is a hospital, an airport, and Penncrest.
