It's not a new amenity concept, but it is for the Media train station.

It's not a new amenity concept, but it is for the Media train station.  Yesterday an advertisement was posted that offers to wash your car for a fee while it's parked at the station, or I suppose anywhere in the area.

One thing I never really understood is why Septa doesn't entertain putting a morning breakfast cart at their stations.  If only for a cup of coffee and maybe something to eat.  I'm sure it would be a lucrative endeavor even if they subleted the service out to a third-party.   Throw a few chairs up in front of it and waiting for a late train wouldn't be a nearly as bad.

  1. Its an interesting concept, but I have some questions. First, since Septa is heavily subsidized by tax payers and this is a Septa lot, who dictates which businesses can run within the lot. Is there a profit share from the carwash company to Septa. Secondly, how does the liability work for this? If a worker for this business is injured on the job, the liability will likely fall to both the Washlib and Septa, essentially creating a liability taxpayers. Additionally, what is the environmental impact of the run off from the carwash chemicals into the ridley creek at the bottom of the hill. Finally, concept of a breakfast cart is great, but there is a nice small business already across the street from media train station.

  2. Seams like really good and simple ideas to me. However with the questions raised about the liability it's amazing that anyone can actually make a living in this country anymore. Too many lawyers.
