The first and last time I ever heard of a threat indicating the breaching of Springton Lake Dam was back in 1999 during the flooding associated with Hurricane Floyd. Turns out the dam was never in any danger of breaking, but for a few hours people weren't really sure what would happen if it did.
Well, rest assured as there are plans in place to deal with such a situation. In fact, they were reviewed today by local responders, county officials and Aqua America who own the water rights.
