If you've seen these boxes this week throughout Media with long cables attached to them spanning a street; they are part of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission who is gathering information on traffic counts. This information is shared with region's planners, policymakers, developers, and the public. Orthoimagery and traditional aerial imagery from as early as 1959 is available, as are traffic counts, detailed demographic analyses, and survey results.
I reached out to the DVRPC to get more information on this effort and to see if there are any proposed plans to address traffic in our immediate area.
Looks like someone cut the wire in the picture, that sucks! Why would this happen in Media, so disappointing to see vandalism in this day and age in our home town! The more cars, the more of our tax dollars that are used to support maintaining the highways in our neighborhood. With inaccurate statistical data the money will go to other roads, and the person who cut this wire well complain about less funds to maintain the road when they hit a pothole.
