Back in December 2017, the Brick Layers union of Philadelphia and Delaware was vocal over the displeasure they had for the non-union work being done on the new CVS store being constructed in Media, PA. Well, having seen the work recently, they are even more critical.
Butcher work! This what you get @cvspharmacy when you get contractors from 1,500 miles away. They don't care! Now the new @CVSinAction in Media, Pa @mediapanews looks like an eyesore if you care to actually look. #hirelocal #hireunion #1u #besttrained #communitiesmatter pic.twitter.com/fPNU4aMOpt— BAC 1 PA -DE (@Local1BAC) March 26, 2018
Why should media borough care about
ReplyDeleteShotty masonry work
Agreed this is shoddy work but even most non-union bricklayers could do better. I'm all for hiring local as long as everyone is ok paying 10 cents more for cough drops.
ReplyDeleteTo the untrained eye and Media Boro Clowncil, they would say it looks artistic!
ReplyDeleteMedia borough council only cares about themselves and there friends
ReplyDeleteMost of the 5,000 residents they could care less about and they appear to have there own set of rules
Nice to see this entry on shoddy bricklaying be threadjacked by several losers who want to segue into the usual eunuch level of crying about Borough Council.
ReplyDeleteThe borough is not run well from the top down yes it is the usual statements but so is the lack of oversite on any projects within the borough.
DeleteCheese has holes.
DeleteMore cheese = more holes
More holes = less cheese
More cheese = less cheese
By that logic then macmayon = macmaycheese or more cheese
DeleteOur esteemed mayor that nobody ever hears from unless you see him glad handing at DUTS
Guy media doesn't mind his taxpayer dollars being wasted
DeleteThe company pulled a permit for the work it is the boroughs responsibility or the borough representative to provide oversite and see the work meets good workmanship practices for the trade at hand- another media borough debacle
Poor job by Media Borough administration that handled this project
Looks as if Sunoco contractors did the work - this is the caliber of work we are seeing on the ME2 project.
ReplyDeletesounds like the union is about as self-aware and honest about themselves as every hate-has-no-home-here lawn-sign phoney in Media
ReplyDeleteBoy the level of meaningless, empty whining is reaching new heights here! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, although these whining whiners comments are often good for a laugh.
DeleteYou are mistaken in your reply. It is the job of the borough to make sure the building work complies with structural and safety items that are noted in the commercial building code - electrical work, structural work, foundation specifications, etc - as well as meeting other items such as appropriate setback and height restrictions. It is not, as you say to "see the work meets good workmanship practices" - UNLESS they relate to specific items mentioned in the building code. If this wall (which is not part of the building itself but a corner of a retaining wall), is structurally sound and meets setback requirements it passes. Your frustration, which is understandable, would be more appropriately directed at the corporation that made the decision to hire these specific contractors who did the work.
ReplyDeleteIs the wall structurally sound
DeleteAnd what are the set back requirements
It's been questioned before the entire building appears to be too close to the road
While hilarious that any news can somehow be spun back to hatred of borough council...
ReplyDeleteI'm no mason but it looks to me like the bricks on the wall face on the right side of the photo are finished (with mortar) nicely. The "shoddy" bricks simply look stacked up but unfinished. Freely admit I could be totally wrong but maybe that's not actually the finished product, in which case the tweet is pretty disingenuous as the Bricklayers Union would know this.
The borough reserves the right to any and all architectural controls to control the end product - this would be one of those controls although the Borough of media would say otherwise because they don't want to get involved
ReplyDeleteIf you say so...
DeleteHeard media borough tout architectural controls many a time at council meetings
ReplyDeleteProblem is nobody ever leaves there office
To go and look at anything in the field
What a joke of a department the lot of them
Not worth the salaries they're paid
